AN OLIVE GREEN BLAZER WORN WITH BLACK CORD FLARES (SPRING STYLING)

How to style an olive green blazer? My outfit proposal of the day would suggest a dark palette. I don't typically wear dark tones, especially not for spring but there are some darker tones that appeal to me, for example I can't resist a dark green palette. As it happens, I like to pair it with black. I do like the black aesthetic, but generally speaking I'm more drawn to patterns and colours. Black is a colour too, I can't argue with that.  Even if black is not my favourite colour, it is still a colour I love. For many, black is the colour of mystery, strength and elegance. Like any colour, it has many connotations. So, for today I have a dark outfit proposal. Perfect for those of you who believe that black is the new black. All of the photographs I'm sharing today were taken in beautiful Mostar, the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of my favourite things about Mostar are all those lovely historical villas from the time of the old Austrian Hungarian Empire. You can see one of them behind me. Another thing I really like about Mostar is how green it is, especially in spring time.

LAYERING IN SPRING

How to layer in spring time? I like to have a long vest at hand, these things are perfect for spring. This particular olive vest always comes in handy when I desire light layering. Here I paired it with an olive blazer. Once it got warmer, I simply took the vest off and wore only the blazer. Olive blazers are great for layering too. I don't know if you know, but I do love olive green. Maybe it is because I love olives? As a true Mediterranean, I can't live without olive oil. To say it is plays a crucial role in my cuisine and daily life would be an understatement. When it comes to this colour in fashion, I love it just as much.

BLAZERS FOR SPRING

Blazers for spring, yes it might be predicable, but it doesn't make this clothing item any less effective. This blazer was actually a part of a set, I have a skirt in same tone. For this spring styling, I paired it with a thrift black shirt and a pair of cord flares. I finished the outfit with a statement scarf in olive and yellow. I like how this light scarf stands out against the predominately dark palette of the outfit. Do you like to wear dark colours? Do you opt for black often? What is your take on the olive shade? Do you like wearing blazers? Do you wear scarves? What do you think about this spring outfit?

IS SCARF A PERFECT ACCESSORY?

It is, if you ask me, especially this season. A scarf can be a simple way to upgrade any outfit. As a scarf lover, I was very happy to see them trending. My tip for wearing them right now would be to tie a simple knot. It looks elegant and is easy to do.  If you're looking for more scarf inspiration, feel free to check out my old posts:

  12. I don't mind a bit of black, it's great for adding drama to an outfit although the quality has to be superb especially when the bright Spring sunshine is shining on it - nothing worse than pilled up fabric.

  23. This is a super look! I really like how you have teamed the blazer with the all black theme and then the pop of colour in the scarf! I LOVE your flared cords. I would love a pair like that. I also have an olive blazer but mine is corduroy- I charity-shopped it around 12 years ago and one of my students wore it for her costume for our Pied Piper performance!

    1. the blazer doesn't have flowers on it but the vest I wore over it does have painted flowers on the bottom hems, one of the reasons I like it so much. The blazer is almost exactly the same shade of olive as the vest so they look like one item when worn together.

  25. I think you look great in dark colors and I love the combination of olive and black. I actually used to wear mostly dark colors, but in the last year or so I've gotten into some brighter and lighter colors too. Olive is actually a new favorite of mine.

  26. Oooh, I have been noticing that olive green is trending so much recently. I like that darker colors are easier to pair but that doesn't mean we should stay away from lighter colors, hehe. I love your outfit! Everything is well put together. Molstar city looks really neat. Glad you enjoyed your time there!
