WINTER FAIRY TALE AT HOTEL SNJEŽNA KUĆA, RUJIŠTE, PRENJ MOUNTAIN

If you want to experience a winter fairy tale in Bosnia and Herzegovina, head for the mountains.  Surrounded by a pine forest, and located only a short drive from Mostar city, mountain hotel Snježna kuća (literally translated snow house) is a great option. Climate in Herzegovina is quite warm and the winters are mild (i.e. quite snow-less), but there is always some snow in those really high mountains, so when it comes to a winter vibe, that's the place to go. I felt like seeing snow with my own eyes, so when we drove to Bijelo Polje with an intention of strolling around, I decided to drive forward all the way to this Prenj and to pay this lovely hotel a visit (after all it is only a twenty minute drive). I also wanted to work on my driving skills because I don't drive often (typically I walk to work). The atmosphere we found in this charming hotel was amazing and I enjoyed my mountain visit immensely. There are about a hundred of mountains in this country and visiting them is a brilliant idea. There you will find fresh air, amazing heights and a charming winter atmosphere.

First of all, that it's a great place to chill, stroll around and take photographs. This mountain is stunning! The views here are absolutely mesmerizing. Now as you might now I've been to Rujiste before (a couple of times), but once again I was pretty impressed. Despite our getaway being a short one (only a few hours), I enjoyed it so much. Long story short, it was one very successful winter getaway. Let me tell you a bit more about this place. Rujiste is an area located between mountains Prenj and Veles (proper spelling Veleš, pronounciation Velesh). It could be said that it is more a part of Prenj mountain, though. The altitude is around one thousand meters. The peaks of mountain Prenj are significantly higher, over two thousands meters (something you should know if you decide to explore this area a bit more). The high peaks of Prenj are probably why this mountain is sometimes nicknamed the Herzegovian Himalaya. I feel like most people aren't aware of how many amazing mountains there are in Herzegovina, or in Bosnia and Herzegovina for that matter. I can't help wanting to correct that. Yes, there are quite a few mountains here and they are glorious! In fact, I found out that there are 64 mountains with peaks over 1,500 meters in Bosnia and Herzegovina (maybe even more, I know of 64 for sure, I checked and counted with the help of mountain sites).
HOTEL SNOW HOUSE (SNJEŽNA KUĆA)
I've actually visited this hotel a couple of times. Most of my visits were during the summer months, this is one of my rare winter visits. However, I was also there in autumn, trying out the new hiking track. If you are curious about that, let me tell you that is located right next to this hotel. The length of the track is around one kilometer, the climb is approximately seventy meters so it is perfect for recreational hikers.  Moreover, there are workout tables and instructions throughout the track (for those who really want to get serious about their fitness).  This hotel is the perfect place to stop by for drinks to warm up after the hike in the open. I have never spend night in this hotel, but I dined here a couple of time and I can really recommend the food and the service (not sponsored in any way). Dining with a mountain view is a lovely experience...and what a view this hotel has!

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT
Nothing is new about my outfit. This princess sleeve pink dress is years old (you can see how I styled it with dad sneakers here, with biker boots here, with heeled boots here and with heels here). This time I paired it with (leggings a logical choice for winter) and a pair of biker boots (logical again). I layered it by wearing a turtleneck underneath and I was quite cozy. That's an easy way to turn a summer dress into a winter one. Just wear a turtleneck under it! For more layering, I wore a white faux leather jacket that I got from my sister in law, so it is a second hand item (new to me, but not all new). I finished this look with my DIY headband to add some femininity to this outfit. All in all, it was a great cozy styling. How do you like it?

As always I thank you for your comments, feedback and visits. Let me know what you think about this place. Have you any winter getaways plans? What kind of winter getaways do you like? What was the best one you ever had? Isn't this mountain a nice winter getaway idea? I think it's a good choice for the first travel post of the year, do you agree? Have a lovely day!

Winter is the best time to get away - I've done it since the 1990s - it breaks up my least favourite season. xxx
