How to Wear Big 'Disney Princess' Sleeves In a Casual Way?
First, a few words about the location, it being a very pretty one and all that. These photographs were taken in recreational zone Bunica, in vicinity of Mostar. Rivers Buna and Bunica are very much worth a visit. I've written about them a number of times and they've been featured on the blog many times. There really are so many lovely places to visit in the vicinity of Mostar. The city itself has a lot to offer, and the surrounding area offers many very diverse and interesting spots. Herzegovina is a beautiful region indeed. Just in case you're planning a visit this spring, here are my links to some Instagramable areas, villages and small cities in the vicinity of Mostar (here, here, here, here, here, here , here, here, here, here, here). I can put together a little travel guide if you would be interested in reading something like that. I love to share beautiful finds with you, and for me beautiful finds often mean nature and cute outdoor spots in general.
Puffer sleeves rose to popularity last spring. Statement sleeves have been trendy for a while now, and it seems like this is one trend that isn't going anywhere. I purchased this dress last spring and I already wore it once on the blog here. Interestingly, the outfit I wore last spring is very similar to this one. Once again, I paired this puffed sleeve dress with jeggings because I think they are a great way to dress down this dress. However, this time I also decided to opt for a more casual choice of shoes and I wore biker boots. The bag I choose is a small one, a gift from a friends. As you could see in my last post, this spring I'm embracing the mini bag trend. The only piece of jewellerly I wore with this combo is a necklace I made myself. I think this necklace matched this dress quite nicely. I really don't give myself enough credit for all the necklace I created over the years. Some of them are very pretty!.Most of them I gave away to friends, but I still have a few and I wear them fairly often.
I didn't wear any make up with this outfit because I can be lazy that way. It is not that I dislike make up. On the contrary, I think make up is a wonderful thing that much like clothes allows us to be creative. Make up can help us feel more feminine, more dressed up and stylish. A nice make up look is the perfect accessory for any outfit. So, why it is that I don't wear make up that often? I'm not sure. Maybe it is a matter of habit. My favourite make up item is a lipstick because (to me at least) it's the easiest thing to put on. Still, here I'm wearing absolutely nothing, not even a lip gloss or a lipstick. And you know what? I feel perfectly fine this way. I think that a 'sans make up' look goes well with this casual styling.
So, what to do you think about this outfit? It is a Yes or No? Statement sleeves are nothing new. Puffed sleeves have been trending for a while. However, when puffed sleeves are this big, they make me think of Disney princess. Maybe that is why I like this dress so much. Perhaps inside every grown up women, there is a little girl who looks up to Disney princess. What do you think? Have you ever noticed how most Disney heroines rock puffed sleeves? Do you like Disney films? Do they make you think of your childhood? What do you think about this styling?
That is such a fun dress! I like how you've layered it on top to still let the fun sleeves shine - and I smiled at the Disney princess comparison! I think every girl should have a dress that makes her feel like a princess! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend! :) Yesterday was a productive day for me and today we went out to a festival with the kids.

DeleteYour outfit is a yes! I LOVE the vibrant pink color, design and appearance of your Disney princess style mini-dress!!! You look very pretty wearing it - your outfit photos are fabulous, and the recreational zone Bunica looks very pretty. I have never traveled outside of the United States and with some embarrassment confess that I needed to look up Bunica, Mostar and Herzegovina on Google maps.
ReplyDeleteI love ultra-feminine styles and love that you are able to channel your inner princess.

DeleteHi Ivana, those are definitely beautiful and Instagramable places. Your love for nature is amazing. Statement sleeves are definitely in and girl you rocked the heck outta this one. I love the bright pink color. Great styling with the leggings. I do love makeup myself. I see it as an art and I get better everyday. Inffact the makeup I did to church this morning looked to me like the best I've done so far. Subtle for service yet very pretty. You look fresh with just your lipstick on. Nothing like a fresh face anyhow. I love every shot here Ivana, really beautiful capture. Have a great week ahead.

DeleteMostar looks like such an awesome place to visit, I just came back from Hungary and honestly I need to leave on a plane again ASAP! Also, the big sleeves are such a fashion statement and I love them! Especially when styled with such a gorgeous bright colour. Also, as an update about my Crohn's I was recently medicated which both sucks and is a lifesaver (literally I guess) and it's really made me come to terms with my illness and just how detrimental it can be which is fuuuunnn :)))) How are you at this moment?

right now I'm on Imuran (1 per day), stereoids (3 per day), Pentasa (3 per day). I'm not doing so great, I'm struggling with fever, stomach ache, chronic diarrhea, and some other Chron unrelated things, but on the bright side since my surgery I didn't experience weight loss at all, right now my weight is ideal. So, at least something to look forward too:). My doctor plans to give me some B12 shots. I hope they might help a bit.
DeleteCarinissimo questo abitino fucsia. Questo colore ti sta molto bene!

DeleteLovely photos! And your outfit is so cute and girly! :) xx
ReplyDeleteDearest Ivana,
ReplyDeletethat was really a trip into a beautiful environment - a great place for an outfit shoot. And the casual way in which you wear your princess outfit, is doing very well. In this way, the top doesn't look cheesy ("kitschy") but stylish!
Lots of hugs, Traude

Puff sleeves are such a fun and feminine detail! While it is generally more of dressy look, I think you managed to work it into a more casual outfit perfectly with this look. You don't need any makeup. You look totally radiant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place,you look great <3
ReplyDeleteOooh Ivana, such a good post and an interesting way to take inspiration from Disney princesses! I am a Disney fan and I love to see how we can take inspiration for our fashion attires from almost anything! I have seen this trend a lot and also the spanish dramatic sleeves (I would say it is difficult to eat with them but fashion is fashion and we must sacrifice some things haha). Love your version of a contemporary Disney princess and the location you picked to shoot hit outfit!
ReplyDeleteBest dear!
