Watercolour (Ships in a port) / Akvarel (Brodovi u luci)

I always loved ports. The infinite sea that seems to be calling out to us. To a traveller (or anyone suffering from wanderlust) every ship looks like Noah’s ark. A vessel to our dreams.  If you love sea travel, you probably also love ports. No wonder that Joseph Conrad was a love at a first read for me.  He always wrote so beautifully about the sea. I came back from Split today but while I was there I haven’t even had the time to go for a stroll. I miss those long walks by the sea. I did manage to buy presents for Saint Lucia (known in English also as saint Lucy). I will write about the custom related to this day some other time because tonight I’m too tired.

I’m not sure about the name of the painting that inspired this watercolour of mine. It is just something we did at art class. Painting reproductions is good practice, I would say. I think I have learned a few things so far. Speaking of this painting, one of the art teacher there showed me how to make the colours in the distance less intense. She literally washed this painting in the sink and removed (with water) a few layers of paint in the background. This made the colour in the distance appear paler and less intense, which in turns adds dept to the painting. How do you like it? My husband wanted to frame it, but I don't like an idea of framing a reproduction. I have enough painting framed at it is- it is more walls that I need. This will be resolved quickly, if as planned this Spring we move into our new home.

Uvijek sam voljela luke. Volite li putovanja morem, vjerovatno volite i luke. Nedostaju mi te duge šetnje uz more. No, uspjela sam kupiti poklone za svetu Luciju (u Dalmaciji često zvanu sveta Luce).

  1. Paintings of the sea are beautiful, you know I love being by the sea, why do you not do your own scenery so you are not worried for framing a reproduction? There are very beautiful scenaries in Split that you could do 💙💙💙
    Have a lovely week sweetie

  9. Stunning work of art, Ivana! I've a painting somewhat similar to this hanging in our clubhouse; our apt name is Casablanca. Guess the artwork comes from its name :)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.

TRYING OUT NEW HIKING TRACK (MOUNTAIN OASIS RUJIŠTE, HERZEGOVINA)

Today I'm taking you to Rujište, a mountain oasis located only a short drive away from Mostar city. This beautiful area is located on mountain Prenj. Nicknamed the Herzegovina Himalayas, mountain Prenj boosts of peaks over two thousand meters high. We didn't go all the way to the top this time, though. Instead, we payed another visit to Snow House (Snježna kuća) hotel. This time I shared my lunch with the hotel's cat, not the dog (for the yellow dog I made friends with last time was nowhere to be seen). In addition, we tried the new recreational hiking track. I'm happy to report that my review of this track will be a positive one. The length of the track is around one kilometer, the climb is approximately seventy meters so it is perfect for recreational hikers.  Moreover, there are workout tables and instructions throughout the track (for those who really want to get serious about their fitness). Weekends are a great time to get back to shape (or at least try to). Spe…

Inspired by..... Tijana/ Nadahnuta....Tijanom

Hi everyone! It's time for another Inspired by....post. The medium is acrylic on cardboard. This time I illustrated Tijana from fashion abejita. Painting lace is always a challenge and I'm aware that I have a long way to go when it comes to illustrating fabrics, but all things considering, I think I did pretty well. In fact, I'm quite happy with how this painting turned out. This outfit is a summery one, but it is suitable for Spring as well. Besides, green is in this Spring.
Zdravo svima!

7 OCTOBER OUTFIT IDEAS & 2 LINKUPS

Hello everyone! How are you? I'm in bed with fever, I think I caught a virus or something. Anyhow, today I have a few October outfit proposals to share with you. I sure love getting dressed in autumn. With this fall styling ideas, I'm joining Modish Matrons (fifty shades of fall) Linkup. I'm also linking this post with Mica's Weekly Wear Linkup.
1. ORANGE DRESS STYLED WITH A LONG GREEN VEST AND A VINTAGE BLAZER What says October better than an orange dress? Orange is the colour of warmth. It is also the colour of Halloween and pumpkins. So, I'd say it is a pretty good choice for this time of year. I love wearing this  Bellissima dress (see how I styled it here, here and here). I paired this orange dress with a long green vest (besides m last post, I also wore it here , here and here) and a curd vintage blazer (see how I styled it here). I finished the outfit with black square heel boots (previously worn here and here) and a bag (previously worn here and here). Ove…
