Watercolour (Ships in a port) / Akvarel (Brodovi u luci)

I always loved ports. The infinite sea that seems to be calling out to us. To a traveller (or anyone suffering from wanderlust) every ship looks like Noah’s ark. A vessel to our dreams.  If you love sea travel, you probably also love ports. No wonder that Joseph Conrad was a love at a first read for me.  He always wrote so beautifully about the sea. I came back from Split today but while I was there I haven’t even had the time to go for a stroll. I miss those long walks by the sea. I did manage to buy presents for Saint Lucia (known in English also as saint Lucy). I will write about the custom related to this day some other time because tonight I’m too tired.

I’m not sure about the name of the painting that inspired this watercolour of mine. It is just something we did at art class. Painting reproductions is good practice, I would say. I think I have learned a few things so far. Speaking of this painting, one of the art teacher there showed me how to make the colours in the distance less intense. She literally washed this painting in the sink and removed (with water) a few layers of paint in the background. This made the colour in the distance appear paler and less intense, which in turns adds dept to the painting. How do you like it? My husband wanted to frame it, but I don't like an idea of framing a reproduction. I have enough painting framed at it is- it is more walls that I need. This will be resolved quickly, if as planned this Spring we move into our new home.

Uvijek sam voljela luke. Volite li putovanja morem, vjerovatno volite i luke. Nedostaju mi te duge šetnje uz more. No, uspjela sam kupiti poklone za svetu Luciju (u Dalmaciji često zvanu sveta Luce).

  1. Paintings of the sea are beautiful, you know I love being by the sea, why do you not do your own scenery so you are not worried for framing a reproduction? There are very beautiful scenaries in Split that you could do 💙💙💙
    Have a lovely week sweetie

  9. Stunning work of art, Ivana! I've a painting somewhat similar to this hanging in our clubhouse; our apt name is Casablanca. Guess the artwork comes from its name :)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.

HOW TO STYLE A METALLIC DRESS FOR TRANSITIONAL WEATHER?

How to style a gold metallic dress for transitional weather? Today I have an outfit proposal that answers that question. I styled my metallic wrap dress with brown boots, a white and brown bag and a tartan blazer. The blazer has some gold treads so I thought it would be a good match for the dress. Besides, I like the idea of pairing a metallic dress with tartan. It looks more interesting that way. I was never one to shy away from patterns. This outfit can be worn both as everyday and night wear. The golden touches make this outfit look more dressed up, and heelless boots make it appropriate for day wear. If you want to glam an outfit like this one, all you need is a pair of high heels.
Metallic dress looks more tricky than it really is. Styling a metallic dress, for example, isn't that hard. As always look for colours and tones that suit your skin tone. Pair your metallic item with other items you like to wear or go for a full metallic look.  If you don't feel comfortable en…

EARLY SPRING OUTFIT FOR A DAY SPENT STROLLING THE MOSTAR CITY

Early Spring. The air itself smells of flowers in blossom. The sun is shining but it's not too warm. I love this time of year. I love to see the nature come alive and admire the almond trees in blossom. Early spring is possibly the best time to visit Mostar city. What can I say about Mostar that I haven't said already? It truly is a beautiful city, especially this time of year when it is so green. The most wonderful thing about Mostar is perhaps the river it is known for- river Neretva. Wonder the banks of Neretva river and you'll feel you'll entered a magical world. It is amazing to find such stunning natural beauty within a city. However, this city can boost of other rivers as well such as Radobolja. No wonder that it is known as the city of bridges.
The outfit proposal I'm sharing today is fairly simple. I've taken to wearing hats lately, mostly because the sun here is so strong. Spring sun can be misleading. You may not feel the sun rays  as intensely bec…

HOW TO STYLE A BATH ROBE COAT FOR TRANSITIONAL WEATHER?

One of more puzzling trends for Spring must be: the bath robe trend. It exists in many shapes and forms. Just like regular bath robes, these coats are made of different materials and come in different styles. Bath robe coats can give different vibes, from luxurious to relaxed ones. These bath robe coats sometimes come in silk and satin, while at other times they are made of wool or cotton. There was some confusion when the bath robe coat first appeared on the runaway. It was actually a few years ago, this is not the first season that it was introduced. However, this season we're seeing it around quite a bit, with a lot of celebrities choosing to wear this trend.

What to make of this trend? Will the bath robe trend become the new trench coat? It is hard to say. Nevertheless, it is easy to see the appeal of the bath robe trend. Coats cuts in this style are typically very cozy and comfy. If they are made from warmer materials, they make for perfect transitional pieces.  If you'r…
