15 WAYS TO STYLE A STRIPED SKIRT FOR SPRING
Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers. How are you? I'm feeling a bit under the weather, I think lack of sleep is catching up with me, so I decided to cheer myself up with creating one of my favourite type of posts: multiple ways to style an item. I have worn this striped skirt a few times recently. If you remember I blogged about 10 ways to wear this striped skirt last summer. Today I will show you how I've been styling it this spring, as well as some of my past outfits.
STYLING A STRIPED SKIRT WITH A GREY BLAZER, CARAMEL BOOTS AND A SCARF
I wore this outfit two days ago. It was quite windy so I layered a turtleneck under my second hand (United Colours of Benetton) grey blazer and I wore thick leggings under my Zara striped skirt. I completed my outfit with caramel boots, a striped scarf and a burgundy bag. I felt like the striped scarf makes my look more spring like and used it to cover my 'winter' item, that is the turtleneck. However, soon I was short for breath and the wind positively exhausted me, so I took the scarf off.
STYLING IT WITH A RED FLARE SLEEVED TOP AND NAVY JACKET (BLOUSE)
Bellow you can see another spring outfit proposal featuring this striped skirt. I think I actually wore this outfit for my birthday. As you can see, I'm wearing the same preloved scarf as in outfit before, a red flare top that dates back to the nineties as well as leggings and flats. Over the red top with flared sleeves, I wore a blouse (or a light jacket whatever you choose to call it) with flared sleeves. I've been meaning to match these two items for ages and I'm glad I finally did. How do you like this styling.
MORE WAYS TO STYLE THIS STRIPED SKIRT - RECYCLE YOUR CLOTHES!
I know a lot of people think that sustainable fashion is about shopping sustainable brands but for me it is more about wearing second hand, vintage and maximizing the items you have in your closet. I try to get at least 30 wears out of all my items. Naturally, it makes longer to get a 30 wears out of a coat the out of a skirt, but I apply the same rule to all my items. I genuinely enjoy shopping my closet. It is not just about sustainable. I find it fun to think of different ways to wear an item. Some items are easier to style in a multiple ways (like this skirt), while others demand more thought but it is all fun. One of the things I like about this skirt is that it is an elastic band skirt. This allows me to style it in many ways. When I wear it with tights, I sometimes wear it higher on my waist, more like a mini skirt. When I wear it without tights or leggings, then I tend to wear it lower on my hips. I never do feel comfortable wearing mini skirts without leggings or tights, it feels like showing too much. With bare legs I tend to opt for around the knee length. Just my personal preference. Another thing I love about this skirt is how easy it is to dress it up and down. All you need to dress it up is a pair of heels and it looks great dressed down. I often wear it with sneakers. I even pair it with boots for transitional outfits.
STRIPES ARE ALWAYS A CLASSIC- STYLING A STRIPED SKIRT MULTIPLE WAYS
One of the reasons why I wanted to put this post together is that I believed striped items always look classic. Even if you don't own a striped skirt, you probably own a printed skirt of some sorts. Therefore, you might find these outfit suggestions useful. I proclaimed this striped skirt one of my summer staples last summer, didn't I? I tend to wear it in all seasons, though. I'm pretty sure I will be wearing it a lot this spring. It really is, for this skirt is so easy to style. However, the truth is that this skirt can be worn in any season and I'm going to prove it by showing how I wore it for cold weather and transitional weather as well. While summer is not over yet, the time has come to consider our transitional outfits. With sustainable fashion being a hot topic, it is important to understand that you don't gave to always buy new items to refresh your wardrobe for a new season. You can make the items you already own feel new by styling them differently.
As always, thank you for reading and commenting. How do you like these outfits? Have a lovely weekend!
It's a great striped skirt and you wear it so well! I really need to add a striped skirt like this to my work wardrobe once we are back in the office :)
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a nice weekend and you get some good sleep and a chance to rest :)
Away From Blue
Hey dear Ivana, hope you had a lovely week so far and thanks for sharing with me your thoughts about traveling, I got inspired by reading your words and congrats for always making local traveling, that's very valuable too!
ReplyDeleteOooh stripes, they are definitely that pattern that will stick around for years, sometimes it gets trendier and sometimes other patters are the main topic of the season, but I have a thing for stripes that would not vanish, actually I am wearing stripes today haha!
I love the way you took your creativity beyond, all looks can work for different occasions, but I'd say my favorites were those where you used blazers, specially the navy blue blazer that is elegant but playful at the same time!
Gonna stop at the other posts of the week :)

ReplyDeleteI love all of these different ways to rock a striped skirt! I like the layering approach that you took. I am all about recycling my old clothes. I mean, might as well make the most out of it. Clothes aren't meant to be work just once. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteStripes are a classic pattern for a reason! These are all great outfits, and I admire your ethos of shopping your closet, aiming for 30 wears, and keeping items that you love, like that 90s top (which I adore!). I love all of these outfits (I really love the giant sleeves!), but I think the shoes in your birthday outfit let you down a bit, particularly when I compare the other outfits.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have been shopping a bit, I've been digging more into my closet for the pieces that I have loved for a long time and really enjoying the things I already own.
I agree that particular combo wasn't flattering. The combination of different shade of flats and leggings shortened the leg. I was aware of it but I dressed for comfort of a long drive. I can't drive in heels.
DeleteLove these looks honey! You look so pretty! Wonderful Post!
