30 + WAYS TO WEAR WHITE SNEAKERS

This pair of white trainers is more than eight years old. They appeared on one of the first posts on my blog back in 2012. You know, when I bought this pair of white sneakers years ago, I planned  to wear them mostly for jogging. Even thought I started to pair these sneakers with dresses quite early on, before it was trendy and all, I didn't expect to wear them this much. I remember how people commented that it was an odd combo, running sneakers and girly dresses, but perhaps I was a bit ahead of my time back then. This was all years ago before dad sneakers reappeared and rose in popularity. I remember being both repelled and attracted by the ugly sneaker trend. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, sometimes I hate ugly sneakers (especially the big ones), sometimes I love them. Who would have thought back then that ugly sneakers trend will last this long? Whatever you think about them, there is no doubt that many pairs of dad sneakers are extremely comfortable, especially those quality made as my pair is (or it wouldn't have lasted me this long- not sure about the brand, though). This pair of white sneakers has  followed me throughout my blogging journey, you might say. 

THE ONLY PAIR OF SNEAKERS I PACKED WITH ME TO ISLAND HVAR

When I came to live on island Hvar, this was the only pair of sneakers that  I packed. I probably wore it more than 30 times since I've been here- since it is literally THE only pair of sneakers I have with me. How many times have I worn it since I bought them? I'm not sure, but it's definitely more than 30. You know that I aim for at least 30 wears for sustainability reasons. Getting at least 30 wears out of a comfy pair of sneakers is really a no brainer, is it? I'm not sure how many times I have worn them in total, but I'm guessing that the number could to be closer to 300. I mean I have had these sneakers for 8 years, often worn them for hiking and I do hike a lot. It's pretty much the only exercise I do regularly. I've never been much of a gym girl, I have to say. I hate the smell of gyms. I prefer the outdoors. So, good hiking sneakers are a must for me. Scroll bellow to see how I have worn them recently- for my island Hvar hikes.

Now, that I have shown to you how I styled these white sneakers recently, now it is time to show you more outfit ideas. Most of these are spring and summer outfits but some are transitional ones and one or two are winter outfits (just to cover all seasons and prove these sneakers are seasonless).

MORE OUTFIT IDEAS WITH WHITE SNEAKERS

To make this post more reader friendly, I organized outfits featuring my beloved pair of white sneakers into collages. If I were to post every outfit individually, it would take you forever to browse this post. Trust me, it is better this way. So, how to go about styling white dad sneakers? They are actually quite easy to style, especially with . I have often paired them with jeans. I like to add a blazer on top to make the styling more chic. I'm quite fond of this combo, especially with vintage blazers. Now, that I think of it, most blazers I own are vintage, besides the red one that is 'only' about five years old. Hm, interesting. Anyhow, I wear these sneakers with all kind of outfits, from sporty ones to more dressed up ones. I wouldn't want to wear them to a formal event (that's where I draw the line). 

PAIRING THE WHITE UGLY SNEAKER WITH DRESSES AND SKIRTS

I love to pair my running sneakers with skirts and dresses, especially girly and feminine ones. Lace dresses paired and running sneakers make for an interesting contrast. I remember how people though I was odd when I wore that combo back in 2012 (Can you spot that 2012 photograph?), but now it wouldn't even draw a second glance. I have to say I'm surprised with how long this ugly sneaker trend has been going on, I actually saw some fashion experts predicting it will be gone by 2020, but somehow it is still going strong. 

PAIRING THE WHITE UGLY SNEAKER WITH CAPRI JEANS

I love to wear these sneakers with capri jeans and bermuda shorts for maximum comfort. This is a great idea if you want to wear your running sneakers during the warmer months as well. Running and orthopedic sneakers are (generally speaking) more closed and thus warm then your regular denim or fabric sneakers so shedding some layers should help you keep cool. If you want to do some travelling and/or hiking (whether it be nature or the urban jungle), a pair of white running sneakers could come in handy.
