VISITING HVAR TOWN IN WINTER PART TWO

Hello dear readers and/or fellow bloggers. Today I'm back with the part two of my visit to Hvar city. Today I'll show you a bit more of this city. This time I'm taking you a bit further away, to fully explore the beautiful promenade this town has to offer. If you take a close look, you'll be able to spot all the historical attractions, such as the fortress of Hvar, the city cathedral and so on in the background. The walking areas on both sides of the city are simply stunning, with lots of tropic and Mediterranean greenery among which you will notice palm trees, giant agava plants and cacti.
How's life treating you? I've been feeling under the weather. I have a nasty throat infection (hard thing to recover from when you talk for a living) and I've been down with fever for the last few days but I haven't missed a single day at work because this is such a busy period for me and I don't see how I can take any days off. I'm drinking ginger tea by the liters and I hope that will help.
HVAR TOWN FAQ ANSWERED  (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PRICES)

1. Is Hvar town expensive to stay in?
That depends on where and when you decide to stay. Hvar has became a bit of a jet set destinations in the past few years, but that doesn't mean that you can't economize if you decide to do so. My tip is always to apply common sense and do your research before visiting. Obviously, a five star hotel during the season will cost you an arm and a leg, but if you book an apartment off season, you can get away with paying little. You can also book an apartment some place else, in one of the bays near by and visit Hvar town on its own.
2. Is food and drink expensive in Hvar town?
Again, it depend on where you shop for them. The same principles discussed above apply for food and drinks. It all depends on what and how you decide to eat and drink. If you buy groceries in a local supermarket, they will cost you the same as anywhere in the country. If fine dining is your cup of tea, there is a price for that. There are quite a few expensive restaurants in Hvar town. There are hardly any opened off season so I haven't experienced them yet but they are supposed to be great. Hvar is known for some expensive spots, so if you're on a budget, you can simply avoid those places. The price will also depend on what you eat. Fresh fish from the Adriatic sea is never cheap, but if you order a pizza wherever then you can be sure not to go bankrupt.
3. Do you have to pay to visit Hvar town?
No, you don't. There isn't a fee for visiting the town or the old part of the town as such. There is a small fee for visiting the fortress but that only applies during the summer, the rest of the year there is no fee.
4. Are fees for museums and other historical attractions expensive?
Generally speaking, they aren't. You can also buy a single ticket that will allow you to visit multiple locations. For example, 2019 ticket price for both the museum and the fortress was 80 kunas (around 10 euros) but if you bought them separately, it would be 50 kunas each.
5. Is docking your private yacht in Hvar marine expensive?
Yes, extremely so. Hvar is probably the most expensive port in this part of Croatia. Click here for a full report on marine prices in Croatia.

  10. Sorry to hear you've been feeling a bit under the weather. I know it's sometimes hard to take time off. I've only got one colleague and due to circumstances she's only been working part-time for the last couple of years, so I simply cannot take time off when I'm sick, as all would be chaos. Now, on to your post! I can't get over the fact that Hvar town is so utterly lovely, and all the sights you are showing us are picturesque as well as very interesting. And look at the blue water and that sunshine! Thank you again for showing it all to us. Get better soon, my dear friend! xxx

  12. I'm really enjoying reading about Hvar town and seeing your beautiful photos. I just love the old sailboat and the beautiful white houses on the hill overlooking the water. I had to laugh about the question of whether it's expensive to dock your private yacht there. Probably if I have a private yacht, that's not going to be a concern for me :P I'm afraid I'd be one of the ones who'd spend too much and go during the warm season. I'd want to sit outside a café and people-watch. I'd never heard of Hvar town before but what a beautiful town! And I think you're dressed just perfectly for walking - I love your hair in braids! It sounds like you have what's going around here....everybody has it. I took Dayquil daytime cold and flu medicine, which helped a lot with the symptoms. Feel better soon!
