HOW TO STYLE RED CLOTHING ITEMS FOR WINTER?

A few posts ago (yes, bloggers calculate time in post activity), I wrote about red accessories for winter but I also wanted to write about red clothing items you can wear this time of year. In fact, I was planning to write a big post about wearing red in winter but I realized that I need to split it in two because it was too long. Apparently, I have a lot to say about why wearing red in winter is a good idea. So, today I'll basically post the part two of my red in winter fashion musings. Red is a bold, energetic and dramatic colour. If you ask me, wearing red is a great way to invoke good luck in our new year. You can pair red with neutral colours to tone it down or with vibrant ones to make your outfits even more noticeable. Lunar Year festivities are a perfect time to embrace the red clothing items. Moreover, Valentine's Day is not too far off either. If you're looking for some winter red outfit inspiration, you have come to the right place.
HOW TO WEAR RED IN WINTER?
My last post was all about red accessories and how you can wear them if you're not confident enough to rock the all red look or red clothing items. On the other hand, if you're feeling brave,  why not try wearing an all red look? You can try the tailored trend by wearing a red suit, or just a red blazer. A red coat is also a good idea! Seeing red worn in winter always makes me think of fairy tales. I'm a sucker for that Red Riding Hood look. A red dress is another great way to wear this trend. I have two vintage red dresses in my closet I swear by (you can see them above). Don't forget to pair your red dress with a red lipstick! Moreover, besides dresses, there are quite a few clothing items that can find a place in your wardrobe. I decided to put my red outfits into groups (outwear, tops, pants, skirts) to show you different to style them. Scroll down to see what red clothing items I rely on in winter.

1. RED SWEATERS, HOODIES AND TOPS
Can you even imagine your life without red tops or sweaters. I know I can't. Sweaters, hoodies and other cozy chic items are a must in winter. Why not make them red? Pick a red sweater, top or hoodie and add some drama to your outfits. It doesn't have to be the same old jeans and sweater combo either. You can layer your red tops and sweaters under dresses or wear them on top for additional warmth.

2. RED BLAZERS, JACKETS OR CARDIGANS
Next on my list are red blazers and cardigans. They are perfect for layering and that makes them ideal for creating fun winter outfits. If an all red blazer or cardigan seems too intensive, you can also pick an oversize blazer/cardi with red details.
3. RED DRESSES &SKIRTS (PRINTED ONES COUNT AS WELL)
Honestly, red dresses are the first thing that comes to my mind when it comes to red winter outfits just because they are so easy to style. A nice red dress is the perfect way to add some femininity to your winter outfits. It is also a great option for date night--and V-day!

4. RED PANTS, LEGGINGS AND JUMPSUITS
If you don't like wearing skirts and dresses, red pants, leggings or jumpsuits are another option. I remember this pair of red flares I often wore in winter. While I don't have it anymore (I donated it), it proved quite easy to style. So, I might buy a pair of red jeans again!

5. RED OUTWEAR: RED COATS AND/OR RED PUFFER JACKETS
Finally, we have come to outwear. Winter is all about outwear. If you want to get noticed, opting for a red coat or a puffer jacket is a great idea.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Do you like to wear red clothing items in winter? Do you have any tips for styling them! Your feedback is always appreciated. Have a lovely day.

  1. You have so many great red pieces in your wardrobe! I really like that maxi skirt! I don't think I have much red - I have a lot of red accessories I like to use as pops of colour, but aside from red tees and some red jeans that's it - I could really add more options to my wardrobe!

Hope that you are having a great week :)

    1. Red accessories are the best, but red items can be surprisingly versatile. Why, I have this blazer I wear all the time, it's one of my most worn pieces.

    Baci!

  13. What a wonderful round-up of gorgeous red outfits, Ivana. I think red is the perfect colour for this time of year, providing a welcome pop of cheerfulness in these dreary winter months. I'm particularly in love with the black and red bias cut maxi dress and - my favourite - the second outfit after the maxi dress, that divine black and red outfit with the red wooly hat! I'm seriously swooning over that one! xxx

  37. Red is really looks beautiful in winter, in my opinion winter is the best time to wear red, burgundy and shocking pink. I don't have much red pieces in my wardrobe, I think a cardigan, a pullover, a red coat, some pants that's all. How lovely collection of red pieces you have in your wardrobe and how you have used those in these outfits. This is really a great post. You reminded me to those red clothes that are in my wardrobe and waiting my attention. I'm planning to wear them soon.
    Have a happy Monday.

  38. Color can have an effect on our mood and wellbeing so it really makes sense to wear red during the winter since it is a high energy color. You have a really nice selection of red items in your wardrobe and it looks like you know how to make the most of them. I just got a really cute burgundy graphic Chinti & Parker cashmere sweater that I wore as my new clothing for Chinese New Year.
