TRANSITIONAL OUTFITS: HOW TO STYLE WHITE JEANS WHILE IT'S STILL COLD?

Hello darlings, how are you? I stayed up reading until 3 a.m yesterday so I'm definitely happy it's Sunday today. Anyhow, today we'll talk transitional outfits while it is still cold.  Transitional styling can be tricky with weather being a bit unpredictable. However, it can also be a lot of fun. Dressing stylishly  but staying comfortable is not hard as long as you think your outfits through (and check the weather forecast). We all know some basic tricks of transitional winter to spring styling such as layering your outfits (so you can take something off when you get warm), introducing lighter colours and patterns associated with spring or summer (be in form of spring patterns, colours or accessories). There are definitely way to make spring seem close even when it might still be fresh outside.  I enjoy introducing elements of spring fashion slowly, it's more fun that way. Moreover, I feel it makes us better appreciate the season that is to come. So, don't despair if the spring hasn't arrived where you are at yet. I do enjoy the change of seasons. Personally I feel this is time when we get away with wearing some outfits that would otherwise seem unpractical. For example during this period, you can wear your spring sandals with knit items or you high boots with light dresses. You can mix winter and spring pieces, and that is wonderful. When it comes to transitional styling, whatever keeps you warm but not too warm should work just fine in terms of comfort. Once you get that covered, you can have  fun with the fashion aspect of getting dressed.

Today I have two outfit proposals with white jeans to share with you. If two outfits aren't enough feel free to read my post about wearing more white in winter. You know, white jeans seem like a lovely transitional item to me. White colour can invoke the feeling of spring and it goes well with some many other colours. Jeans are an easy enough item with style. While it is still cold, you can wear them with boots or sneakers, but when it gets warmer a nice pair of sandals can dress up perfectly. Colours can be a big part of making your outfits more spring appropriate, but they need not be too vibrant if that is not your jam. Neutral colours such as grey and black can look very elegant worn with white jeans and are quite easy to style. Relying on neutral colours has its benefits, as most people have those kind of colours in their closet. Who doesn't have a basic white or black shirt in their closet? Most people have at least one item of dark outerwear be it a black leather jacket or a black coat. You can always pair your white jeans with black if you're not to keen on colour. White and black is always a timeless combination. If you feel like adding more colour to you outfit, you can always go for a statement bag, scarf or a pair of earrings. Brown is a good alternative to black as well. It is never loud, and it matches white perfectly. There is definitely something to be said about earthly colours. Alternatively, you can also style your white jeans with more vibrant and romantic colours such as red, pink or purple.  White jeans can also look great with patterns, but we will leave that for some other time.

WHITE JEANS PAIRED WITH A PASTEL PURPLE SWEATER

For this transitional outfit I paired my white jeans with a dark pink (almost purple) coat and a pastel purple sweater. I also wore a white bag with brown details that matched my brown boots quite well. I tend to wear boots often in transitional period. That way I can be sure my feet will be warm, even if I wear lighter materials. The materials and fabrics of this outfit were more appropriate for winter, and that  was perfect because it was still cold when these photographs were taken. However, by opting for lighter colours, I feel I made this outfit more 'spring' appropriate. This was a very comfy outfit and it felt right.  If you like wearing white jeans, this kind of outfit might work wonders for you. Once it gets warmer, you can just ditch the coat, and when it gets a lot warmer, you can switch the boots with sandals and switch the sweater with a nice blouse.

WHITE JEANS WORN WITH A WHITE FOLKLORE SHIRT

My second outfit proposal is almost entirely black and white. I wore a white folkore shirt with white jeans and a short black coat. I accessorized with brown sunnies and boots. This was also a very comfortable outfit to wear, perfect for winter to spring transition. I don't wear black and white outfits that often, but I always feel good in them. I feel like these two colours balance each other perfectly. This is also an outfit that is a good example of layering. If you get too warm in a combination like this one, all you have to do is get rid of the coat. I do plan to style this white shirt with white jeans at least a couple of time once it gets warmer. I might accessorize it with a colourful bag or scarf. Good thing about black and white outfits is that it is easy to add colour to them. Just opt for a red bag or a yellow scarf, and you can end up with an eye-catching outfit. Well, that would be about it. In care anyone is wondering about the location, both of these outfits were shot in Mostar city (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Do you like white jeans? Do you wear them often? How do you like to style them? Do you have any transitional style tricks to share? What do you like to wear in this period? Do you enjoy the change of seasons? Have a lovely Sunday everyone! Thank you for reading!

  1. Beautiful styling. White jeans are a perfect wardrobe staple that go with almost everything! During the transitional season I love to wear cute blazers instead of a heavier coat. Then throw a scarf around my neck if it is a bit too cool outside. Happy Sunday!

  3. Totally on the same page as you! The transitional season can be tricky because some days it feels like early summer and on others it feels like it's the middle of winter. However, the minute all snow is gone and the warm weather begins to poke through, I find I forget about all my winter clothes for I can't wait to start wearing my more spring-appropriate clothing again. White is such a versatile colour in my opinion and I love wearing it in both the summer and winter. This pair of jeans you're wearing is spot on – wide leg white jeans are one of my favorite styles!

  9. That pink/purple coat is fabulous and it looks great with your lavender sweater! I'd probably never have tried that combination but it's wonderful together! I almost wore my white ones yesterday, but my black boots and olive jeans ended up with mud on the backs of them and I was so glad I hadn't. I love the black and white paired with the tan boots, too. The painted egg is gorgeous. I'm in Texas, USA, and we have painted horses around the downtown Dallas and cows in Fort Worth. I just love these artistic displays!

    1. thank you Ruth. The painted eggs was a gift to the city from a local Association for children with a down syndrome. I'm not sure who made the egg, I think it was a donation from some artist.

  12. I love white pants especially in light winter or summer, I also owed a pair myself but I'm not finding it currently in my closet. It seems I misplaced it somewhere. Last month I purchased a lovely pair of white pants from H&M by online but my bad luck it was slight tight on my waist :( (I think I gained some weight ha) but I will definitely buy a new one very soon. Come to your outfits now, I really loved the both outfits, you have styled them beautifully with those long coat. The first one is especially my favorite but you are looking fabulous in both looks.
