Winter Accessories: How to Stay Warm While Looking Stylish?

Winter has officially started, so I figured now is a good time to share some of my winter style secrets and essentials with you. Today I'll be talking about winter accessories. I don't know about you but when I say winter accessories, the first thing that comes to my mind are items such as gloves and beanies, that is, the kind of items we wear only in winter.  Naturally, in winter we can wear most of the accessories we wear in other seasons as well. That is why picking accessories in winter can be so much fun. We can wear all our favourite accessories and we have the extra options provided by winter accessories. How lovely!

SCARVES

If you ask me, a scarf is a girl's best friend, especially when it gets colder. Forget about diamonds, they won't keep you warm in the winter. Scaves can be worn in so many ways. With years I've gotten better at styling them and I'm always trying to find new ways to tie them. Why not? A fancy scarf can elevate any outfit. A knit scarf can make any outfit feel extra cozy. A tartan scarf is a classical winter accessory. Can you even imagine your winter wardrobe without scarves?

If there is anything I enjoy more than styling scarves in winter, then it's wearing faux fur scarves. I have a thing for faux fur. Adding a faux fur scarf can completely change a look of a puffer jacket, a blazer or a coat. As much as I enjoy the trend of teddybear and faux fur coats, sometimes puffer jackets and regular coats are a better option. Pairing faux fur scarves with regular jackets or coats helps me to get the best out of both worlds.

HATS,  HAIR ACCESSORIES, BERETS AND BEANIES

Never underestimate the power of a hat. It is hard to even imagine winter without hats, berets and beanies. Classical black hats go well with most outfits. Berets always look chic and can worn with just about anything. The same goes for beanies, they are available in so many different styles.

Go for that rock star vibe. Besides protecting us from the cold, winter hats also protect us from the sun. Sometimes we forget that sun can be damaging even in winter months. So, it is good to remember that a wide brim hat offers the best protection.

White most of classical winter hats I own are black, most beanie and berets in my closet are coloured. I love wearing red berets and pairing them with colourful or faux fur scarves.  Sometimes more is more, if you know what I mean. I feel like beanies are the most fun when they are coloured. Pattered beanies are adorable.

Hair accessories are another thing to pay attention to. Most of hair accessories I own I have made myself but if you're not crafty, you can always buy some. As you might have noticed, I often wear my creations. Sometimes I wear my DIY necklaces as hair accessories. This bring us to another winter accessory I treasure: statement necklaces.

STATEMENT NECKLACES AND EARRINGS

Statement necklaces always come in handy, but my favourite time to wear them is in winter. My favourite way to wear them? Over turtlenecks or warm sweaters. My favourite necklaces are the ones I made myself from recycled materials. Another thing I love to wear in winter are statement earrings.

GLOVES

Winter accessories serve a practical function. They are there to keep us warm. However, they can also help us look and feel more stylish. Gloves are an example of a winter accessory that can serve as a perfect pop of colour. Besides classical black ones, I have a few gloves in different colours, among those coloured ones, it is orange, baby blue and pink ones that I choose most often.

BAGS AND BACKPACKS

Backpacks in winter have a clear advantage. With your hands free, you can put them in your pockets to warm them up. When choosing a winter backpack or a bag, one should pay attention to the material. Faux leather or leather might be the best chose. Cold temperatures could harm delicate beaded bags and handbags. Not that bags made from fabric are out of the question. There are many fabrics that go well with winter outfits, such as cord or velvet. Bags and backpacks made from delicate fabrics are better reserved for warmer months, though.

They say that a bag can break or make the outfit. There are certainly many bag ladies out there. For most of my life, I've been a shoe lady but with time I've stared to appreciate bags more. I love how small bags can look so delicate and elegant. However, I also like to wear overized bags in winter.  I don't have an impressive bag collection, but I'm happy with the bag collection I do have. I enjoy having different options. Small or big, bags are available in so many designs every fashionista can find something for himself or herself. Finally, ethnic print and folkore bags are a great way to incorporate some colour into your winter outfits.

LEG WARMERS

Leg warmers are another practical yet brilliant accessory. I have this pair of faux fur leg warmers that I simply adore and wear every winter. Another fabulous thing about leg warmers is that they can be matched with different styles of shoes. This can transform a pair of high heels into a pair of boots! Not to mention the joy of being able to wear your favourite pair of stilettos in winter without fear of freezing. Tights are another great way to keep warm, but since I often blog about them, this time I didn't write about them as such. Besides, aren't tights in winter kind of obvious?

  2. Šeširi su super i tebi dobro stoje. Ja sam više kapa tip jer se u šeširima izgubim. Zato ih ljeti nosim, ali zimi bi me poklopilo. Rukavice su m ijak obitne, i stvarno i dignu kombinaciju kad nisu u istoj boji kao i kaput.

  8. Yes! These are all fabulous accesories. For me, hats and gloves are a must to keep me warm, however, there will always be a special place in my heart for scarves. Once the gold weather starts to kick in, I pack up all my silk scarves and take out my knit ones which will keep me extra warm in this chilly season. Statement jewerly is also a must! I don't usually wear statement necklaces and earrings together since I find it's a little too much for my personal style. I love this necklace you're wearing. What a fabulous piece and you have extrodinary talent. Have a wonderful holiday xx

You really look stylish while staying warm, dearest Ivana! :-) I love all your looks, but there are some items which are especially great: I love your faux fur scarves and would like to have some, too. Your dream-catcher earring is very special! All your red-and-black-outfits look so good on you. And you look awsome with hats!
I wish you a peaceful 4th Advent and a wonderful Christmas time!

  14. Hello Ivana
I hate winter, I hate having to wear a lot of clothes. But I use almost everything you've said. I love wearing gloves, hats, scarfs, beanies, berets ... I don't know !!! I love knit sweaters.
Bags also like all sizes, but I'm really passionate about coats.
    Your list is very complete.

  15. Dear Ivana,
You definitely know how to stay warm and you have an amazing selection of winter accessoiries! I love to see the summarly of all your outfits btw and this post is really a treat. Thank you!
Personally, I have to admit that I wear very very seldom gloves (my hands are always warm and I think due to the fact I'm not that tall my sleeves are always long enough to warm me).
But during our daily walks I wear always during the colder season a beanie.
Scarfs neither belong to the pieces I wear often I have to admit. But when I know I have a cold day ahead at work I take a scarf with me as well as a tube scarf during our daily walks.
You know how to wear winter accessories perfectly!
    Merry Christmas!

  19. What a very detailed post Ivana. I love 'forget diamonds, they wont keep you warm That got me laughing so hard. Very true though. I don't do scarves a lot and when I do it's just over my shoulders. Beanies on the other hand are my best friend. I have them in a lot of colors and on rotation both when I'm at home and to work. I do love gloves as well but hate that I can't do much with them on. On the other hand it doesn't get very cold where I live so I can get away with not using a lot of winter accessories. I love leg warmers and omg I love hats!!!!These are great accessories and you show them very well. Every picture looks so beautiful! Happy holidays Ivana.

  21. Hi Ivana! Personally I think the same as you - scarf (in my case it's rather big scarf-blanket), beanie and gloves are also my must-have during winter. I also like wearing thick, opaque, black tights, which are great option to wear skirt/dresses during colder days. Moreover, I can't stop staring on your photos, dear - the location of each of them is truly magnificent, you're so lucky to live nearby such beautiful places :)
Merry Christmas to you and your family, dear :)
