WHAT DRESS TO CHOOSE THIS AUTUMN? SPECIAL OCCASION OUTFIT IDEAS

As I mentioned in one of my last post, I'm already thinking about what I might wear for all those festive occasions that are coming up. Autumn and Winter both have its fair share of festivities. Our social calendar can be quite busy this time of year with all the meetings, events, festivities, celebrations, family and work parties. Some of these social occasions come with a black tie dress code, so I decided to prepare some outfit ideas. A bit of formal wear inspiration for my readers. All of these photographs were taken the day before yesterday. We're enjoying a rather warm Autumn in Herzegovina but these outfits I'm sharing can be easily be adapted for colder weather. Just throw a warm coat or a blazer over them, and that would be that. That's what I plan to do once it gets colder. Anyhow, all four dresses I'll be sharing with you today are from Rosegal. This is my second collaboration with this site, if you want you can have a look at my first one here. With the festive occasion in mind, I opted for dresses that one can easily dress up. I picked dresses in blue and black because those colours are quite classical. Without further ado, here are my styling ideas.

A BLACK TURTLENECK MIDI DRESS

Let's start with a dress you'll be able to dress down as well. A black turtleneck is something you might already have in your wardrobe. Dressing it up is very easy, you just need to wear it with heels (or any kind of elegant shoes). Add a cute bag, nice earrings (or other accessories) and you're all set. This midi polo neck dress is quite versatile. I look forward to dressing it up for special occasions, but I will also wear it on everyday basis. You know as they say, you can't go wrong with a little black dress. If you want to make sure you'll feel warm, why not opt for a turtleneck black dress?

A SAPPHIRE BLUE LACE DRESS

I actually ordered this mini dress planning to wear it as a peplum tunics. I might style it with leggings some day, but for now I'll stick to pants. When I saw this dress in shop, I knew that I wanted to wear it with navy palazzo pants and high heels. I think this outfit formula works really well. However, if you are tall or tallish you should know that the size M (the one I ordered) would probably be too short on you.

If you're looking for a formal dress (or a tunic or a blouse) remember that lace can be a great option. If you're shopping online, you can't examine the material for yourself, but some online shops have the option of zooming in on the products or offer multiple photographs of it, so that might help you decide whether some lace item is worth ordering or not. I'm a big fan of lace, because it is such a feminine and elegant choice, but when ordering online I always make sure that the lace item I'm ordering looks nice. In this case, it ended up looking the same as in shop so I'm content.

A BLACK SQUARE NECKLINE DRESS

Square neckline dresses have been in for some time now. I finally got mine a few days ago. This dress also has a little bow on it. I'm a big fan of bows, so I couldn't pass on this one. I think it's a pretty good choice for a special occasion. If you ask me, bellow the knee is the perfect length for this style of dress. I ordered it with a wedding in mind. I don't think I'll be wearing it on everyday basis, but never say never. I do like its cuts, so I might figure out a way to dress it down for day time. Any suggestions?

A COBALT (ONE SHOULDER) BLUE DRESS

When it comes to formal wear, asymmetric cuts can be just what we need to stand out. One shoulder dresses are always the way to go when we want to stand out a but. They are a classy way of showing some skin. For this last outfit proposal, I paired this cobalt dress with a military green blazer. I think this outfit works quite well. Black is always an elegant choice, but you want to wear something more colourful why not opt for a red or green blazer? It can be a great way to add some colour into your special occasion outfit.
