Urban Fashion Illustration: Pretty in Pink ( A Brunette in a Pink Dress)
To start with, here comes my new fashion illustration of the day. A Brunette in a Pink Dress is a mixed media painting. For most part it's a watercolour painting but I added some finishing touches with the coloured pencils. The painting was inspired by Autumn, the beautiful season we are currently enjoying. If you look closely, you'll see that I've also painted puddles. A bit of the black watercolour paint I is spilling from the illustrated cowboy boots, but that's how imagined it.
As the title suggests, the painting depicts a girl wearing a pink dress. There is a bit of layering going on. What is she wearing over her pink shirt dress? Why, a warm vest. Autumn is all about layering. Our illustrated girl also choose to wear dark brown tights and black cowboy boots. She is also holding a bouquet of flowers. How to Wear a shirt dress in Autumn? This would be my illustrated answer. Pair it with leggings or tights and cowboy boots, and you've got yourself an unique and pretty outfit. I do like how this fashion illustration turned out. I was going for a slightly artistic feel to it, with a blurry urban background. I must say I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
How is Autumn treating you? Are you ready for Winter? Today it's so sunny that Winter seems far away, but I'm sure it'll arrive in a heartbeat. At the moment, I'm enjoying this picturesque season (whenever I'm not terribly ill that is) and one of the things I love about this season is the ability to pick wild pomegranate. Yes, you've read that right. There are even some wild pomegranates growing near my house. In fact, a pomegranate is one of the symbols of Herzegovina. One of the definite advantages of living in a Mediterranean climate is being able to buy (or pick) all kinds of delicious fruits. Scroll down to see a cute tiny pomegranate I picked today.
Because I quite liked this painting, I made it available in my Zazzle shop in the form of various products. I like the idea of fashion illustrations printed on clothing items. If you recall, I ordered one such tote bag this Summer and was quite happy with it. I ended up gifting it to my aunt. It was certainly interesting to see my fashion illustrations being worn in this form. I already wrote about this and the designing/customizing process that many online shops offer, so I won't repeat myself too much. It is also available as an original painting in my shop.
I also added some of my new fashion paintings to my Redbubble shop (for example here). That would be all for today. As always, thank you for all your lovely comments. One more thing. Bellow you can also see the sketching process (for those of you who are interesting in the making of process of this fashion illustration). As I already mentioned, I sketched this fashion illustration with pencil and then I filled it with watercolours. Take care and have a great weekend!
As I mentioned in one of my last post, I'm already thinking about what I might wear for all those festive occasions that are coming up. Autumn and Winter both have its fair share of festivities. Our social calendar can be quite busy this time of year with all the meetings, events, festivities, celebrations, family and work parties. Some of these social occasions come with a black tie dress code, so I decided to prepare some outfit ideas. A bit of formal wear inspiration for my readers. All of these photographs were taken the day before yesterday. We're enjoying a rather warm Autumn in Herzegovina but these outfits I'm sharing can be easily be adapted for colder weather. Just throw a warm coat or a blazer over them, and that would be that. That's what I plan to do once it gets colder. Anyhow, all four dresses I'll be sharing with you today are from Rosegal. This is my second collaboration with this site, if you want you can have a look at my first one here. With…
HOW TO STYLE GREY FOR AUTUMN/WINTER?
I was just thinking how grey doesn't always get the credit it deserves. Sure, there are many enthusiasts of the colour grey, but even among those of us who like grey, there are many lessons to be learned. One of the mistakes we make when styling grey items is to forget that grey does come in so many shades. It's kind of obvious, but it's easy to focus on the classical grey tones and forget to explore this colour in all its complexity. Not to mention that styling the lighter shades of grey can be a great way to refresh our autumn/winter wardrobe. Sometimes it does seem to me that grey is one of the most underestimated colours out there. However, that all might change as grey has been trending a lot lately. For example, you can have a look at some of my runaways picks bellow. Neutral outfits composed of lighter shades are a great way to stay away from the typically dark outfit combos. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with dark …
Time for another Fashion Illustration Friday talk. We'll talk autumn and share some new autumn inspired fashion illustrations & outfits. Autumn is a season with one of the most beautiful colour palettes. Just think about all those gorgeous gold and red leaves! Even the fruits of Autumn are visually stunning, for example the delicious and juicy fruits such as pomegranates and grapes. With so much to appeal to our senses, it's hard not to be appreciative of autumn. It is a stunning season indeed, so small wonder I was inspired to create some fashion art.
