Early Autumn : What To Wear? Autumn (Fall) Outfit Ideas

The Autumn has arrived, but if you happen to live in the Mediterranean area, the chances are you're still dressing for transitional weather. Today I'll share some outfit ideas for those tricky Autumn days when the weather is a bit on the unpredictable side. You know when it's still sunny but it's also windy and the weather might turn any second. The solution to this problem is often clever layering, but one needs to pay attention to materials as well. First I'm going to share a folklore inspired outfit with you. I do love folklore items (authentic or inspired) and I'm always trying to incorporate them in my outfits. Autumn is a great time to rock folklore inspired outfits.

A FOLKLORE INSPIRED OUTFIT

When it doubt, go with basics. There is something fresh about the combination of white with denim. A white shirt is something we should all have in our closets. Likewise,  a good pair of jeans always goes a long way. My husband is always telling me I should wear jeans more often. He even bought me this pair (a while back) and this autumn I've been wearing it pretty often. Good thing about jeans is that they are easy to style. That is probably what makes them so popular. I've styled this pair of jeans with an authentic Croatian folklore shirt. Croatian traditional wear is very versatile, we have hundreds of different folklore costumes. I just love European folklore costumes, they're so rich and beautiful.

ANOTHER FOLKLORE INSPIRED OUTFIT:

Here's another folklore inspired outfit that I wore in the past. Like the previous styling, this outfit includes one authentic folklore item and in this case that would be the bag. This outfit is also more colourful than the first one I shared. Folklore accessories such as bags or necklaces can be a great way to bring some colour into your outfit. Traditional clothes and accessories are often abundant in colour and patters, so opting for them is always a great way to add visual interest to  your outfit. Autumn is a season that's particularly rich in colour, so that might be why many of us feel more drawn to colour this time of year.

MORE EARLY AUTUMN OUTFITS IDEAS (FROM THE ARCHIVES):

To wrap up this post, here are a few more early Autumn outfit ideas. I often like to add a bit of colour to my Autumn outfits. So, here are some 'colourful accents' outfit options in case you're in mood for some colour therapy. As I said, folklore accessories or folklore inspired prints (such as tartan) are just perfect for adding some colour and pattern to our Autumn fashion. I also like to add accents in bold colours, such as yellow or red. I actually think they match the darker colour quite nicely. Well, you know me. I'm always in mood for some mix and matching.

Tell me, what do you like to wear in Autumn? Do you have any style tricks you like to use? What about new trends? Has anything caught your eye?

  7. I agree that layering is key during transitional weather since temperatures can vary from the morning into the evening. You present some fantastic styling options. I'm with on adding color to my Autumn outfits and I like to break out the tights and boots to wear with my dresses and skirts. Definitely trying to take advantage of things I can still wear before the weather gets really cold.

your autumn-outfits are wonderful! And as you may know, I love folklore and Maxi skirts. So your second outfit is my favorite, followed closely by the first - but also your other looks from the archive are very inspiring! You can see my own autumn looks in my blog - by the way, it's also very warm and sunny here. (Today about 25 degrees!)

Maybe the third one with this cute skirt with the folklore print or the fourth with these beautiful tights. As you know, I love to see you in skirts and dresses, but I have to admit that you look great in jeans as well, specially paired with this lovely white Croatian folklore shirt.

  38. Dear Ivana, it makes me smile that your husband also wants you to see you more often in jeans as for me husband it is in my context absolutely the same :) So sweet your husband even bought you jeans!
I really like how you combined these jeans - not only because I'm a folklore fan like you. Such a wonderful blouse. Also your other suggestions are beautiful and cool. Thanks a lot for the inspirations.
In autumn I wear when it is not too cold often the same clothes as in summer, only with warmer jackets and closed shoes.
When it gets colder my sweaters and blazer are the most used pieces as far as my cardigans. But when possible I still like to wear skirts and dresses and avoid tights as far as I can as I don't love them :)
    Have a wonderful new week!

My tip for Autumn is that I like wearing blouses under shift dresses so you can see the cute collar and sleeves but you have a dress on top- avoids the heat of a cardigan but you are not too cold!

Wearing the First Dress I Ever Made: A Grey Midi Dress

Here it is: the first dress I have ever made entirely by myself. I did make some summer dresses in the past, but I had sown them without a pattern and a sewing machine and at any rate I wouldn't call them very accomplished. I mean, they weren't nearly as polished as this dress and they were not nearly as complex to make. I'm very happy with how this dress turned out. I'm even happier I took this sewing course in the first place because now I can make more dresses like this one! If you remember my November highlights post, you might remember that I've mentioned how I've recently finished a beginning fashion tailoring and sewing course with designer Stanka Zovko.

I promised to show you the dress I made for my course 'graduation'. At the end of this lovely sewing course, you get to choose not only what you're going to make, but also the material and the pattern.  The sewing pattern is typically chosen from one of the sewing magazines this designer has …

February recap / sažetak veljače

You have seen (more or less) what was February like for me. Now tell me... what was February like for you? Are you happy that it's already March or do you feel like time is flying too fast? Are you looking forward to the spring?

As far as blogging goes, it seems that I have became more focused on fashion illustrations. In the next month the illustrations will have their place, but there will be more focus on DIY....or at least I think so, because I'm kind of heading in that direction. Apart from that, I have no plans. I have so many ideas when it comes to what I want to blog about, that I often have hard time deciding what not to include. As always, feel free to write about what you would like to see.

How To Style Animal Print? + An Autumnal Fairy Tale at Ethno Village Near Medugorje

With winter at our doorstep, I think it's important to make the most out of the left over autumn days. With that in mind, my husband and I payed another visit to our favourite (still not officially opened!) ethno village in vicinity of Medugorje. I wrote about this eco/ethno village a number of times, so if you want to know more (or just see more photographs) feel free to check out my old posts herehereherehere and here.  Autumn is Herzegovina is always gorgeous, and this year hasn't been an exception. We had some sudden weather changes and drastic changes of temperature, but I would still describe this autumn as a beautiful one. The Sunday this photographs were taken on was rather gorgeous, so I'm certainly glad we went on this little trip. I know I'm repeating myself, but I do cherish moments like this. Every time I step into this little village, I feel as if the time has stopped or rather like I have just travelled in time. It's such a charming place! I h…
