3 Ways To Wear an Illustrated Tote Bag in Summer!

Nobody can dispute the practically of tote bags. They are one of those clothing items that have hardly changed, precisely because of the usability of their design. Tote bags have been popular since the early twentieth century, so they are nothing new. I have quite a few of them, some are vintage, some are new, some I even made myself. I use tote bags in two ways: to carry groceries (to avoid using disposable plastic bags), or like regular bags. I like wearing them both ways. One of the things I love about tote bags is the fact I can fit my art supplies and sketchbooks in them. I do think these bags can look very chic.
Tote bags became even more popular in recent times since they were seen as a perfect alternative to plastic disposable bags. Many tote bags have been made from recycled material for exactly that purpose. Unfortunately, people have started using tote bags the same way they use disposable plastic bags (i.e. disposing them) thus completely ruining the new environmentally purpose of these bags, so I guess tote bags won't save the environment after all. Well, what to say? At least some of us are appreciating & using them in the right way. Moving onto brighter subjects, today we're going to talk about different ways to style a tote bag, just in case there are more tote bag fans among you. I'm going to show you three outfits that I wore with my new tote bag.  How cool is it being able to own a tote bag with my own illustration? I'm really happy with how this bag looks. I guess the hours I spend trying to figure out how to apply my design to different products were well spent.

The first outfit I'm sharing with you is a very simple combo. When this dress arrived, I knew that I will try to style it with jeggings and do I did. I do like the result. I'll probably wear it with jeans as well.  I think the colour scheme of this outfit fits well with my new tote bag. In addition, it's such a comfy outfit. How do you like it?

As soon as I opened my redbubble shop, I knew I will have to order something from it, to try them out and to make sure that the quality they offer is satisfactory. I took me a while to decide what I wanted to order, but finally I opted for a tote bag. The bag is even of better quality than I imagined it to be, but I wish the price was more affordable. I probably would not pay this price for a tote bag, if it hadn't my design on it. Just being honest. The bag is very pretty, though. So, maybe I will order another one after all. I also like the fact it's 25 percent recycled. I'm currently looking into  similar shops.  I opened a zazzle shop, so I will probably be ordering something from them as well, to make sure the quality of their merchandise is alright. I don't want my art on bad products, so I have to test all the shops I design with. If you want, I can make a more detailed review of this bag. Maybe it is best to wait and compare it with ones I order from similar sites?

My second outfit of the day is almost all white. Here I paired this white dress with a  geometric print with white jeans. Another very comfortable combination for the summer. I was surprised to find out just how comfortable it was. I didn't know that you can actually feel less hot if you wear more clothes. If you wear clothes that are breathable and don't cling to you too tightly, you might feel more cool then if you wear less clothes. I've been living in a warm climate all my life, but I'm just starting to learn some things. I suppose it is because in the past I really enjoyed the heat, and I would never feel too hot even when the temperatures were sky high. These days, however, comfort is more  important to me. What about you? How do you dress in extremely warm weather? How do you cope with the heat?

Scarves are definitely my favourite accessory. I just talked about how sometimes you can feel less hot when you're more covered. Clothes can protect against the heat of the sun as well. That is why covering up more can make sense in the summer. Anyhow, here I tied a scarf around my yellow dress to make it more colourful and interesting, but also to protect myself against the sun. I'm a big fan of yellow dresses in the summer. I was planning to publish a post detailing different ways to wear a yellow dress in summer, let me know if you're interested. That would be all for day. Thank you for reading. Have a lovely day!

  1. Love how you paired the bag with different outfits! Very stylish and trendy! Have a great weekend!

  2. Oh very cute tote bag darling

  3. I love all the three outfits. The tops are so beautiful. The bag I love love. Simple yet timeless.

  4. Love your style! Your looks are so versatile and all amazing.

  5. Your bag is lovely - it's great you can own a piece with your design on it! :) I really like that second outfit with all of the white, but the last outfit is pretty great too. I think the scarf tied over the dress is perfect! :)

Hope that you're having a wonderful weekend :)

  8. I love tote bags, they are incredibly particle . I have a couple from Clairebella and I even personalised them. 💞💖😘

  9. Hello,

    Oh, amazing !

  10. This bag is fabulous! I like how it's on the more causal side, but with a more dressy outfit like the second one you featured, it can completely transform. I've actually been on the hunt for a good tote bag. Surprisingly enough I only have smaller hardbacks and backpacks so I think that it's time to get a tote. I like how you included a little history about the tote bags. Fashion history is one of my favorite subjects so I'm always interested in learning something new!

  11. My favorite look is your all white top and pants outfit...stunning! This bag is so cool it looks like it can go with just about anything.

  12. I love all your outfit, you're amazing!

    New post on my blog

  13. I am a great fan of tote bags. These bags are not only easy to carry out but also very useful. We get a lot of space in these bags and they are so lightweight too. The bag you got is so cute and your illustration has made it more beautiful. I'm totally impressed how you paired it with these three different outfits so perfectly. I love all outfits but the second and the last are my favorite. White dress with white pants has given a classy touch to your outfit and in the last one, I loved how you tied your scarf over the dress beautifully. A great post girl.
    Have a happy Monday <3
    Kisses <3

  14. These are such cute outfits to pair these totes with!

  15. Lovely post! I too really like tote bags, they're so versatile and of course, super practical! I really like how you styled them with all the outfits, but I think that the first one is deffo my favourite. Just looks so effortlessly chic! And yes, I would definitely like to see a post on how to style yellow dresses! :) I have always been super afraid of wearing yellow, so tips and inspiration would be welcome! xoxo

  16. great outfits ! <3

    Have a good day!

  17. Did you know that I am the biggest fan of tote bags? I have plenty of them and since my friends know it I always receive them as a gift and my collection is getting bigger. They are definitely the best option when you need to carry many things, and they also are a good ally when you need to do the grocery shopping or intend to go to a picnic or to the countryside!

By the way, I definitely love this illustrated option, glad to see that you art is displayed in many objects and it is such a good way to pump your drawings!

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.

My fashion illustration of the day + book review / Moja modna ilustracija dana + ogled knjige ( Le Diable au corps) 6.12.2016

This morning I read an amazing novel. Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Perhaps I should make it a habit, getting up more early so I can read more.
Jutros sam pročitala divan roman. Đavo u tijelu  (naslov izvornika Le Diable au corps) je roman Raymonda Radiqueta. Vjerovali ili ne, ovo je moj prvi roman ovoga pisca. Mislim da nika…

Fashion illustrations of the day (markers)

Hello darlings! How are you? Can you believe that February ends today? This month has just flown by. I know it's the shortest month in the year but still. Today I'm going to share 3 fashion illustrations and sketches with you. The medium for all of them is marker on paper. I don't work with markers that often, but sometimes it is good to try something different. The fashion sketches I'm sharing are all about 3 colours: purple, green and red. Spring is in the air, so this is my reflection on all those trends for the new season. The first illustration shows a girl wearing a purple and blue jumpsuit. The second illustration features a girl wearing a transparent green dress with a top and a skirt under that dress. The third illustration shows two girls in red gowns.

February Recap (art & DIY projects & outfits)

I've put a lot of effort into blogging this February, I hope it shows. As far as the content goes, February was similar to January, mostly a mix of my illustrations and outfit posts (here). This month I was full of positing ideas and I managed to make many of them happen. I feel pretty good about that. The only thing I feel bad about is making my blog monolingual and not using my other languages, but translating texts from English to other languages takes such a long time. It is so much easier to just write in English.  Hopefully, I'll manage to change that and make my blog multilingual again. I need to organize my time better. Fingers crossed. For March I already have a few posts prepared. You can expect more art (mostly fashion illustrations) & outfit posts.

I shared two DIY projects in February, one about making a Barbie dress, the other was about how to paint a plant container. I don't have any DIY projects prepared for March, but I'm sure that I…
