Watercolour & Oil Paintings: My Art Lately

Today I'm sharing two relatively new paintings with you. The one on the right (the lady with green hair) was a bit of an experiment. I was trying something new with watercolours, trying to free style it, I guess. I do a lot of portrait paintings, but I don't do them with watercolour that often. I'm not sure about this one to be honest, but I do like the colours.  How do you like it? Do you think I should try to make another one like this one? I do want to make more time for watercolour portraits, but I have so many art projects, it is hard for me to find time for everything.

The other painting (the one on the right) is a quick fashion illustration  of a blue swimsuit that reminds me of this watercolour painting of mine. Perhaps I'm repeating myself a bit? I just realized that I have quite a few illustrations of blue swimsuits. It would be fun to dig into this subject a bit more. We'll see. Lately I've been working mostly with acrylic paints, but I might do some watercolour paintings. Do you have a preference when it comes to a medium? I can't say that I do. If I had to pick only one, I would go for oil paints, because (for me personally) they have that extra special something, but I love exploring different mediums.

Watercolour Paintings: My Art Lately

Finally, there is  another portrait painting I want to share today. While I was browsing through my art collection, I came across another redhead. The medium for this one is oil paint on cardboard. It's been a while since I last painted with oil, I can't wait to get into it again. I love how this painting turned out, so as you can imagine, I'm pretty happy about not losing it during my move last year. I was kind of worried I did but as you can see I found it again. I'm not sure have I shared it before, perhaps I did, perhaps I didn't.  Anyway, that would be all for today. I have a lot of new art waiting to be shared, but I thought I'll shared these first. How was your weekend? Are you looking forward to the new week?

  1. I think watercolour is tricky to play around with, mind you I've zero skills with art but I think you should do more water-colour paintings. You could only get better, right? xx

  14. Your watercolor free style paintings are so alive and vibrant. I really enjoy how the colors come alive. I hope you will do more paintings using this medium or even mix it up with the acrylics and oil paintings. Colors really open up my visual space and inspire it even though at times I can appreciate something minimalist such as your mascara art that I quite like very much :D

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.

WHAT DRESS TO CHOOSE THIS AUTUMN? SPECIAL OCCASION OUTFIT IDEAS

As I mentioned in one of my last post, I'm already thinking about what I might wear for all those festive occasions that are coming up. Autumn and Winter both have its fair share of festivities. Our social calendar can be quite busy this time of year with all the meetings, events, festivities, celebrations, family and work parties. Some of these social occasions come with a black tie dress code, so I decided to prepare some outfit ideas.  A bit of formal wear inspiration for  my readers. All of these photographs were taken the day before yesterday. We're enjoying a rather warm Autumn in Herzegovina but these outfits I'm sharing can be easily be adapted for colder weather. Just throw a warm coat or a blazer over them, and that would be that.  That's what I plan to do once it gets colder. Anyhow, all four dresses I'll be sharing with you today are from Rosegal. This is my second collaboration with this site, if you want you can have a look at my first one here. With…

Fashion Illustration Friday: Inspired by Colours of Autum

Time for another Fashion Illustration Friday talk. We'll talk autumn and share some new autumn inspired fashion illustrations & outfits. Autumn is a season with one of the most beautiful colour palettes. Just think about all those gorgeous gold and red leaves! Even the fruits of Autumn are visually stunning, for example the delicious and juicy fruits such as pomegranates and grapes. With so much to appeal to our senses, it's hard not to be appreciative of autumn. It is a stunning season indeed, so small wonder I was inspired to create some fashion art. Scroll down to see and read more.

AUTUMN COLOUR COMBOS TO CONSIDER
Besides enjoying the colours of autumn, I sure love wearing colour in autumn, and that's what I'll write about today. Whether we're talking about accessories or clothes, a bit of colour can take us a long way. Here are some illustrated & photographed colour combos to consider.

HOW TO STYLE TARTAN IN A CASUAL WAY? OUTFIT PROPOSALS + FASHION ILLUSTRATION

I was thinking about why I like tartan pattern so much, when one reason crossed my mind. I figured that it probably has something to do with the history and the culture behind this particular pattern. After all, I always say that traditional and folklore clothing (be it original or reproduced) carries additional value. Traditional patterns can be such an wonderful source of inspiration. Traditional patters have soul to them, one might say. The history of tartan is particularly interesting. Today we mostly associate tartan with Scotland, but according to some historians, tartan like fabrics were used by ancient Celtic populations spreading across the British Isles as early as the sixth and the eight century BC. Well, that one old pattern for sure! However, even if tartan clothes are really as old as ancient Celts, it is the still Scotland that is responsible for tartan we know today. Did you know that different tartan patterns can represent different Scottish families? Something like …
