What I Drew Today (Fashion Illustrations of the Day: Pencil & Something New)

Hello everyone. Today I finally managed to set aside some time for fashion drawing. I don't usually post my art right away, typically I wait for a while before I post it because that gives me an opportunity to reflect on it on my own, but this evening I'm going to make an exception. Today I have made 3 new drawings.  Plus, I've finally finished one of my old drawings ( I already showed you the almost finished version here). So, I'm rather happy because I managed to do some drawing today.

As the title implies, I'm about to share fashion illustration drawn with pencil. Scroll down to see them all. The medium is pencil on paper, hence the illustrations are black and white. However, I decided to give these fashion drawings a twist. This evening I decided to try something new. I played around with Pixlr for a bit and tried my hand at editing my art a bit.

Digital art is not something I tried in earnest. This is not digital art btw, this is just a bit of editing. I think I only tried digital art once or twice. When I was in elementary school, I used to make fashion illustration with MS paint. Well, that was ages ago and since then I pretty much opted for  regular art forms. I do admire digital artists and I can see the 'work' they put into it. I follow enough of them on Instagram do get a good idea of what digital art has to offer. Art is art, digital art offers just as much opportunity for expression as regular art. Still, I  feel like working on paper or canvas with paints or pencil is what works best for me. I quite like the old fashion drawing and painting.

DRAWING NO. 1- A BRIDAL FASHION ILLUSTRATION

First let me comment on original drawing. I used my own photograph as a reference for this one. I might show it to you some time because this dress is kind of special  (wink wink) but in the meantime let's focus on the drawing. Bridal illustration is not something I tried before, this is only the second wedding dress illustration I made, but I might opt to focus more on it. You know, I think bridal illustrating  might be interesting. Right now I'm planning to give bridal illustrations a try.

DRAWING NO. 2 - A GIRL WITH A BOW SCARF

A few words about the drawing as such. It doesn't depict an entire outfit, but it gives you a pretty good idea. It is all about the bow. I love to tie scarves in a bow. So, I illustrated a girl with long hair, wearing an off shoulder dress (or a blouse) completed with a box scarf. The inspiration for this illustrated bow was this outfit of mine. Drawing as such turned out alright in my opinion. I'm not going to comment the edited versions of my drawings, because I still need to give it some thought.

DRAWING NO. 3 - SPRING FASHION ILLUSTRATION

You can see the inspiration for this drawing here. The outfit I illustrated came from my head, but the inspiration for the posture came from  that  outfit post. I like to draw fashion illustrations with a different posture pretty much every time. It is much more difficult that way, but hey I've always loved a challenge. Drawing typical postures is easier, yet you know some people like it hard.

ORIGINAL DRAWING + EDITING WITH PIXLR

My experience using Pixlr for editing my art was pretty interesting. It is quite time consuming, just as time-consuming as drawing, so it is not something you can use to save time. However, there might be some benefits. For example, using an editing app or a program can help us get some new inspiration or give us an opportunity to reevaluate our art. Naturally, it can also add something to it. I'll also look into copying original designs and multiplying them because that seems like something that could save drawing time and it would still be 'your style'.

Will I consider editing my art again? Why not? BTW this is not a sponsored post, I used Pixlr because that's the first app I though of, I will probably try out others once I find them. Feel free to recommend the editing programs or apps you use. What editing apps do you use? Do you use any?

Do you like the effect the effects I created here or do you think that these drawings looked better before being touched up? Will I edit my art again?  I'll think about it. I'm always looking for way to express my creativity. Feel free to let me know what you think.

( I can't access my Insta account right now so I can't see your messages and comments on this platform, sorry for that, I'm trying to figure out what the problem is)

  3. I have never heard about this app before, but I have to check it out, because the effect is amazing, personally I think that combination of "traditional" drawings with digital art is pretty good and unique - especially I love first, bridal illustration with using this app - effect is terrific :)

  5. The movement you've created in these drawings is what caught my eye from the hair to the figures themselves. The editing effect gives them a fresh graphic touch! It can be fun to play around with different enhancements every now and then.

  6. I knew it wasn't a sponsored post, cause I know you for a good while now and I know you like to explore possibilities, like the drawings having another posture, eve though it is more difficult. I loved your experience with digital art! The ones I most liked are when you used graphic forms. The bridal gown, wow! I really would love to see the original one! One day, as you said :) Hope you have a very lovely weekend, dear Ivana!

  7. This is fun! I can't say that I like the drawings better one way or the other because I like each way for different reasons. I like seeing the art that is just your drawing. They feel personal and distinct and I like that. The editing is cool though, and I really like the effect of the one with the green hair. Fashion drawing reminds me of when I was a young girl and loved drawing princesses. xo

    2. I love the original pencil drawings. Your wedding dress is beautiful. I remember you said it was grecian-looking. The way you have captured the billowing fabric is pretty cool. The other two are great, though I feel the girl in the last picture could be me right now- she has a headache in my mind!! The pixl effects are interesting but if I'm truly honest, I just prefer your original drawings, I don't feel they show your drawings as well but that's just me!! :-) xx

    3. yes, it does look like she has a headache :). Maybe it was subconscious because I'm struggling with migraines myself.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
