Drawing of the day (portrait) / Crtež dana (portret)

I'm not sure how I feel about this drawing.  I kind of like it, but to be honest I don't really see the resemblance with the person I tried to illustrate.  It is hard to find that balance between 'personal style' and 'realistic' style of drawing, especially when it comes to portraits. Although, I'm not quite sure I'm actually attempting portraits yet.  Maybe I should. Who dares wines:). I think I'll give this one another try, see how that works out.

Nisam sigurna kakvo je moje mišljenje o ovome crtežu. Nekako mi se sviđa, ali ne vidim pravu sličnost s osobom koju sam ilustrirala. Teško je pronaći tu ravnotežu između osobnoga stila i realnoga načina crtanja, pogotovo kada su portreti u pitanju. Iako, nisam sigurna da zapravo pokušavam raditi potrete još. Možda bi trebala. Tko ne riskira, ne profitira. :) Mislim da ću ovu pokušati ponovo pa vidjeti što će ispasti.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR  DRAWING SKILLS?



Getting better at drawing is something I did for my own personal satisfaction, but I can't deny there were some other benefits. For example, I gifted a lot of my drawings and made some people happy in the process. 

Drawing is hard because it is hard. I still have a lot to learn! 


One thing that helps my art and drawing skills in general is spending time in nature.

Nature inspires me!

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. 10 STYLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM MALENA/ MONICA BELLUCCI

With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Bellucci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.   The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself!
