Green dress (painting of the day) / Zelena haljina (slika dana)

You would have already seen this painting, if you follow me on Instagram. Greenery vibes and that sort of thing. I'm quite happy about this whole 'green' for Spring trend, in case you can't tell. The lady illustrated is wearing a green dress with flare sleeves, but you can really see the entire dress because I didn't painted all of it. Anyway,  'nevermore' inscription is, as you probably can guess, a reference to  a famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Speaking of American writers I've just finished World's End by T.C. Boyle. This novel won the PEN/Faulkner award in 1988. It is certainly a well written work of fiction, but very demanding on the reader. You have to concentrate hard while reading  if you want to be able to follow the story. If your mind wanders a bit so that you miss a sentence or God forbid a passage, you will have to go back to reread it. If you don't feel like you can commit to the reading process fully at the moment, forget about this novel. Don't expect it to offer any definite answers either. This is more a novel that will make you think than one that will give you any finite answers. It is a difficult read, but one that's worth the effort in the end- naturally assuming that you like this sort of novels. However, it is rather bleak, so don't pick it up if you're feeling down at the moment. There will probably be a review on my other blog sooner or later (maybe even today if I find the time).

Kad već spominjem američkoga pisca, upravo sam dovršila čitati World's End (nisam upoznata postoji li prijevod djela)  T.C. Boyle-a.

  1. Dear Ivana, love this painting with the wonderful green dress and that in the background there is even this pink element as pink and green belong to my absolutely favourite colour combinations! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the book "World's End". Now I know thanks to you how demanding it is :) I'm impressed you read this book nevertheless.
    Have a happy new week!

  9. Yes I do recall seeing this illustration a few weeks ago and the text caught my eye as much as the lovely lady in green. I'm also excited about the celebration of the color green this year. It is a color of such vibrance and I always associate it with nature and life. I'm not familiar with the literary work you just finished. It sounds quite deep and compelling.

  14. I've only recently started wearing green so it's good it's the colour of the seasons as I'll be getting lots of inspiration about ways to wear it! :)

It sounds like a tough book to read - no opportunity for me to read anything like that! I'm still struggling to finish a book I started just before baby boy was born!

Hope you are having a great start to the week!

  23. Again really lovely, dear Ivana, I love green so very much! And the book may seem to be a difficult read, it's true, but I like books that make me think! And it's such a coincidence, I was thinking about wearing a green dress, more or less like that one (the shade), to an important occasion I have, soon! The name World's End may speak for itself and yes, as I was very stressed some weeks ago, I will just avoid it for now, not to be down again :) Thanks for telling that in advance! Hope you have a very nice week, dear Ivana!

  26. green? why not. interesting colour style. in real i think to wear a green dress is not so easy. green is a problematic fashion colour when it comes to a dress. i think this is a cool summer colour, but for an evening dress, hmmm...i dont know.
