Frozen Lake (painting of the day) / Zamrznuto jezero (slika dana)

Here is one of the reproductions I painted as a part of that art course I took last month. It depicts a frozen lake. The background is dominated by the mountains and the clouds. I do like the composition of this painting. I'm glad I chose to paint this one. Painting the forest was an interesting task. I think that it is supposed to be a painting of a landscape in late Autumn. The lake is frozen, but the leaves on trees are golden and red.  I spent a lot of time on these clouds (you can see the progress on Insta account here and here)  and in the end, I'm not quite satisfied with how they have turned out but well. The medium is oil on canvas. I love oil paints, but you already know that. The painting hangs on the wall in my home at the moment. I don't plan to frame it. I'm not sure what I will do it. Perhaps give it to somebody? I think it would make for a nice gift. Paintings of landscapes are usually a good neutral choice. That is all for today. Thank you for reading.

Ovdje je jedna od reprodukcija koje koju sam naslikala na tečaju slikanja koji sam pohađala prošloga mjeseca. Prikazuje zamrznuto jezero. U pozadini dominiraju planine i oblaci.

  3. Wonderful!!! Very expressive, bold! I'm sure it'll make a great gift to someone you love. A big part of my personal art collection is art found at antique malls by self-taught artists or students of art - lots of them do it with so much heart, I just love it!

  10. Dear Ivana,
I think the effort your put in the clouds was a good investment as I really like how you painted the clouds. In fact I love the painting in summary - it reminds me so much on my country Bavaria with the mountains in the back and the frozen lake in front. You did again a very good job and I see you benefit from the course!

  14. Very impressive work, Ivana. You seem to have mastered the atmospheric perspective. Love your bold ductus here. Don't frame it, because the wrong frame would ruin the impression. This painting needs no frame. Let it speak for itself, hope that makes sense.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.

AN AUTUMN OUTFIT AND A BOOK REVIEW (EAST WEST BY SALMAN RUSHDIE)

Hello darlings! It's suddenly gotten a lot colder here, but I still have one warm autumn styling proposal to share with you. I wore this cute neutral outfit while the sun was still shining bright. On that lovely sunny day, I decided to pair my white (authentic) folklore shirt with a striped mini, dark leggings and a dark green vest. I finished this look with my brown boots and a tartan belt. Besides this outfit, I will share another book review on my blog today. East West by Salman Rushdie also happens to falls into category of magic realism. I'm no stranger to Salman Rushdie,  I read Midnight's children a while back and I started but never finished Satanic Verses. This is the first time I read his short stories, though.  I really liked this collection and I can't wait to tell you all about it.

KAFKA ON THE SHORE, A NOVEL BY HARUKI MURAKAMI (BOOK REVIEW & OUTFIT PROPOSAL)

Hello, my darlings! I will be sharing two things with you today: a book review and an outfit post. This cozy outfit proposal features two printed items: a printed scarf and a skirt. The bluish scarf was a gift from a friend and I like how it looks with this camel coat (another gifted item). The wool/silk printed skirt is old, a creation from fashion house Edi. You had a change of seeing this unique floral print on the blog here , here and here. Under the camel coat I have worn this white blouse and this red blazer.  I completed the outfit with a red beanie and high brown boots.  It has gotten colder in Croatia even on the shore. Speaking of the shore, Kafka on the Shore is the novel I will be reviewing today.
MURAKAMI, A WRITER THAT REMINDS ME OF A CAT

10 STYLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM MALENA/ MONICA BELLUCCI

With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. What says summer better than Mediterranean and Sicily? Today we'll analyze Malena's style and see what we can learn from her. There is much to learn! Having analyzed looks that Monica wore in iconic Malena film, I…
