The Lady In Red....

Have you ever heard that ballad 'The Lady In Red' by Chris De Burgh? You must have had, it's been around for a while. It's one of my favourite ballads, a perfect joining of beautiful music and meaningful lyrics. For some reason this song reminds me of another (probably even more famous ballad) and that would be 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton. Actually, I think I know the reason and it has to do with how I interpret both of these songs. According to my personal interpretation, both of these ballads talk about a man who suddenly sees his lady in a new light and realizes just how gorgeous and wonderful she is. Now, what is more romantic than that?

That line 'the lady in red is dancing with me'  caused me to form a very vivid visual image that has stuck in my mind ever since. I don't know about you, but I could always imagine mesmerized Eric dancing with Pattie Boyd (the women who inspired him to write the song) even if in Eric's song there is no mention of a red dress. I'm not exactly sure what Chris looks like ( I only know him for his song) so I never imagined him, but I know he wrote this one for his wife, so she must have had worn a red dress at least once. Anyhow, that could explain why I love red dresses so much. I've said many times that I associate red colour with love and I have a special place in my heart for red dresses. Perhaps I still associate red dresses with these songs. One thing that 'The Lady In Red' made me sure of is that wearing a red dress can make us feel empowered. There is a lesson to be learned from this song.

Today I decided to made a little selection. Style We is a place where you can look for these lovely things I'm sharing with you. I have already written about this site on my blog. What is unique about it is that they're supporting young designers hence their 'designers at fingertips' motto. I've chosen a few dresses, all very pretty in their own way, but this first one (the one with the kitty print) really blew me away. It's so fashion forward, isn't it? It is really remarkable how putting on a perfect dress can make us feel instantly dressed up and confident. Plus, dresses always seemed like taking the easy way for me, you slip them on and you're done. Plus, there is always that romantic aspect to them. Even if you're not the kind of women to go in for romance (not that I ever met that isn't), it is always a good idea to have at least one dress that makes us feel really special in our closet. You never know,  the perfect dress might be just a click away!

  5. Hi Ivana! :) Personally I also love those two ballads, they're really romantic, just perfect to listen them when you're around "that" beloved person :) What's more, I really like the dresses from your post - red dresses are eye-catching, they make you feel like a lady and the ones, which you showed here seems like really easy dresses to style. What about my favourites, I'm so in love with second dress- it's simple, but really chic and versatile - it can be used in so many occasions and it has timeless shape.
Hope you're having lovely evening, dear :)

READING UPDATE: PLAYER PIANO AND FAULT IN OUR STARS (BOOK REVIEWS)

Is anything as lovely as a sunny spring day? I missed reading outdoors, I can tell you that. Sitting on a bench on a nice spring day, with a nice book in one's lap, now that has to be one of the greatest pleasures in life. Speaking of reading, March has been a good reading month so far. As loyal I am to my favourite writers, I also love to discover new ones. I try to read at least one new author every month. This March I read two American authors for the first time: Kurt Vonnegut and John Green. Naturally I heard about them before. Both of them are quite well know, but this March marked my first introduction to these two. They are not the only 'new' writers I tried this month, but more about that some other time. Earlier this month, I read Kurt's Player Piano and Green's Fault in Our Stars. I liked Player Piano much more that Fault in Our Stars but I was kind of expecting that. I'm happy I read both, though. It is just that Kurt's writing is more my cup of…

CROATIAN DESTINATIONS: MAKARSKA CITY, THE MAIN CITY SQUARE

Hello my dear readers! Today I'm back with another post from Makarska city, a very popular coastal touristic destination in Croatia. If you remember, I went to Makarska on the first of March to visit a family member. I went back again last Friday (exactly a week ago) and the weather was dreamy. We had a great time, we sure did.  In this first photograph, you can see me standing in front of Franciscan monastery and church of Blessed Virgin. I will write a more about this monastery some other time, and today I'll show you a bit more of Makarska city itself and show some of its many attractions (like the main city square and the church of Saint Mark the Evangelist). If you haven't seen it yet, feel free to check out my recent post about Makarska. You can also check out this old Makarska travel post (dating to March, 2016). As you can see, I've been to Makarska a few times. Not nearly enough, if you ask me. It is a beautiful city and I think I even prefer it in spring sea…

JANUARY AND FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS

January and February have both been quite eventful months for me. A mix of good and the bad you might say, but all in all I can't complain. After ten long years I'm finally in remission, so that's amazing news. Fingers crossed things stay that way. I can't tell you how relived and happy I am to be in remission. I lost all hope of it (to tell you the truth) but then when I didn't even think about it, it happened. That's life, isn't it? You never know what the tomorrow might bring. Both good and the bad. I suppose that's the fun in living- not knowing. I know  it might seem a bit late, sharing January and February highlights as late as mid March, but I finally found some time to put this post together, so let's do it. Scroll down to see some of my January and February highlights.
