Fashion drawing of the day (purple and red) / Modni crtež dana (ljubičasta i crvena)

                                                  Purple and red together? Why not?


Why not indeed? Life is full of surprises and that's the best thing about it. From those surprises, true love is the sweetest one. It is always unexpected, unpredictable and inifitely precious precisely because of that. Let's forget the modern cynicism. Can not two beings love one another? Yes they can and they will. That is the most wonderful thing.

Cannot a weak man love an ugly woman?( The Book of Laughting and Forgiveness, Milan Kundera )
Can not a spoiled woman love a cruel man? (Wuthering Heights. Emily Bronte)
Cannot the two most selfish people in history of literature and film love one another?( Gone with the wind, Margaret Mitchwell)
Cannot a broken man love a tomcat? ( The Door into Summer, R. A. Heinein)
Cannot a militant nihlist love an intelligent and independent woman? (Fathers and Sons, Turgenjev)
Cannot a prostitute love a student? ( The Woman of Rome/ La Romana, Alberto Moravia)
Cannot a student love his patron's mistress? ( U registraturi, Ante Kovačić)

Love is a miracle. It exists. It happens between two people or two beings who are imperfect and often quite flawed and it makes them better, it makes them whole. I believe in stories. Literature is my religion. I believe in love, in beauty, in meaning. I believe in what Toni Morrison wrote in her novel Jazz, I believe that laughter is more comlicated than tears and that love is always worth fighting for. I believe in happy endings, in attraction of opposites and mystery of union. I believe that red and purple go well together.

                                                     Ljubičasta i crvena skupa? Zašto ne?

Zašto ne doista? Život je pun iznenađenja i to je kod njega i najljepše. Od tih iznenađenja, najljepša je prava ljubav. Uvijek je neočekivana, nepredvidljiva i beskrajno vrijedna baš zbog toga. Zaboravimo moderni cinizam. Kada se radi o ljubavi, uvijek trebamo reći zašto ne? Zar ne može dvoje bića voljeti jedno drugo? Mogu i hoće, a to je nešto prekrasno.

Zar ne može slab čovjek voljeti ružnu ženu?  ( Milan Kundera, Knjiga smijeha i zaborava)
Zar ne može razmažena žena voljeti okrutnog muškarca? (Orkanski visovi, Emily Bronte)
Zar se ne mogu voljeti dvoje najsebičnijih ljudi u povijesti književnosti i filma? ( Zameo ih vjetar/ Nestali s vihorom, Margaret Mitchell)
Zar ne može slomljen čovjek voljeti mačka? ( Vrata u ljeto, R.A. Heinlein)
Zar ne može militantni nihilist voljeti pametnu i neovisnu ženu? ( Očevi i djeca, Turgenjev)
Zar ne može prostitutka voljeti studenta? ( Rimljanka, Alberto Moravia)
Zar ne može student voljeti ljubavnicu svoga mecene? ( U registraturi, Ante Kovačić)

Ljubav je čudo. Postoji. Događa se između dvoje ljudi ili dva bića koja su nesavršena, a često i puna nedostataka, te ih čini boljima, čini ih cijelima. Vjerujem u priče. Književnost je moja religija. Vjerujem u ljubav, u ljepotu i u značenje. Vjerujem u ono što je Toni Morrison napisala u svome romanu Jazz, a to je da je smijeh kompliciraniji od suza i da se za ljubav uvijek vrijedi boriti. Vjerujem u sretne završetke, u privlačenje suprotnosti i misterij zajedništva. Vjerujem da se ljubičasta i crvena dobro slažu.

DRAWING ISN'T EXACTLY MY FIRST CHOICE! NOR IS PENCIL OR COLOURED PENCILS! I wrote about this on my blog many times. I feel my most cofident holding a brush and painting with acrylics, watercolour or oils. 
BUT FOR AN ARTIST IT'S IMPORTANT TO TRY OUT ALL THE MEDIA.

So, I do draw. I draw with both pencils and coloured pencils. 
I have made a lot of fashion illustrations and drawings over the years.

    If I were trying to be cool I would say love is chemicals+timing+justifying after the fact but instead I will smile and say it is rainbows and unicorns and candy hearts and involves much nudity.

THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. 10 STYLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM MALENA/ MONICA BELLUCCI

With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. What says summer better than Mediterranean and Sicily? WIWT: RED FLORAL BLOUSE, OZZ PANTS AND STARTAS SNEAKERS

Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers. Today we'll do a simple outfit post. What I wore today? Well, I wore three outfits actually (you'll see the other two soon enough).  This is what I was wearing this morning while we were driving through Neretva canon on our way back to Mostar. A travelling outfit, if you will. Once again, I shopped my closet for this outfit. I mixed and matched two sets to create this outfit. The red floral blouse is from a vintage floral set (worn here ), the tea green pants are from Ozz brand set (previously worn as a part of a set here  here ) and the striped sneakers are from iconic Croatian brand Startas (worn previously here ).  It was a very comfortable outfit, perfect for travelling! Not that I put much thought into it. To be perfectly honest, this was the only clean pair of clothes I had after spending six days in a medical and spa hotel (where I accompanied my husband who was sent there by his doctor). Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! Thank you for your lovely comments on my last  Goranci outfit & travel post .  Spring is here, but I'm back with another cold weather outfit, beanie and all. The arrival of Spring rarely means that it's time to ditch the coats altogether. Transitional fashion often entails layers and coats. I live in the Mediterranean region and if we're still wearing coats, I imagine you are as well. No need to forget about layering just because Spring is here. I'll also take this opportunity to reflect on my Winter as well. With years I learned to love Winter, and I'm almost sad to let this season go. Almost. One of the highlights of this Winter were definitely the people. There were moments that brought my faith back into humanity, little moments of kindness and warmth.
