Pink and blue (outfit post)/ Roza i plava (odjevna kombinacija)

Who says we need to buy new clothes all the time? I certainly don't think we need to buy them in order to enjoy dressing up. Everything I'm wearing in this outfit, I've had for years. In fact, some of these clothing items date back to my childhood. I have this opinion that when we own a certain clothing item for a long time, we grow attached to it (at least that is the case with me). Moreover, the mere fact of having had some item for a while makes (or it might make ) it more meanigful for us. In addition, it makes it easier for us to style it because we know it so well. What do you think about this theory of mine? Naturally, we have to buy new clothes eventually because they old ones won't last forever. Naturally, there is nothing wrong in buying new clothes and enjoying the process. Nevertheless, in this world of consumerism it is a nice when someone takes cares of a certain item and wants to preserve it. Such attachments to clothes may be called sentimantal, but there is charm in them.

  12. Personally I think the same like you do, Ivana - there is nothing wrong with buying new clothes, but on the other hand, considering the fabrics, where these clothes (I'm talking about the ones from high street like h&m,zara and so on) are made, everytime I need to buy something new, I have doubts, because it's so immoral, so very often I end up with getting something "new" from second hand store - at least, it's eco-friendly. What about your outfit I love how this purple sweater goes with pink skirt, it's amazing color combo, my dear:)
Have a lovely evening, Ivana :)

    1. every time period has its benefits. Nowadays we can order everything we want from internet sites, everything is so easily accessible. However, clothes are made from materials that don't last very long. It is also true what you say about brands like Zara and H&M explodining their workers and doing damage to environment. I've watched one documentary called toxic clothing that really made me think. That is why it is great to buy in thrifted stores. By wearing second hand clothes we're helping the environment...and hunting for great finds is always fun.

  16. I totally agree with your theory! Most of my clothes are old and you are right. I know exactly what they go with and how to style them because I've had them so long. And I love your outfit! That collar on the blouse is gorgeous and the colours are beautiful. Beautiful photos!

  18. Pretty in pink, pretty in pink! I'm totally with you on not needing to buy new clothes all the time. It's more interesting and challenging to shop your own closet and come up with new ways to wear existing pieces. I love that you do that!

  19. I totally agree with you about not buying new clothes all the time. I tend to hoard my clothes largely because I'm so attached to them. Each time I pick up a piece and want to give it away, I think of how much I love/d it and I change my mind. As a result my closet is honestly almost collapsing under the weight of clothes. You look totally adorable and I can't believe you've had some of these for a long time. You sure did keep them well. The skirt is super cute and I'm sure you can style it many different ways just using staples from your closet. The cardi seems to be my favorite item from this look. The length is just right and so is the tie front style. You look totally AMAZING!

February recap / sažetak veljače

You have seen (more or less) what was February like for me. Now tell me... what was February like for you? Are you happy that it's already March or do you feel like time is flying too fast? Are you looking forward to the spring?

As far as blogging goes, it seems that I have became more focused on fashion illustrations. In the next month the illustrations will have their place, but there will be more focus on DIY....or at least I think so, because I'm kind of heading in that direction. Apart from that, I have no plans. I have so many ideas when it comes to what I want to blog about, that I often have hard time deciding what not to include. As always, feel free to write about what you would like to see.

Wearing the First Dress I Ever Made: A Grey Midi Dress

Here it is: the first dress I have ever made entirely by myself. I did make some summer dresses in the past, but I had sown them without a pattern and a sewing machine and at any rate I wouldn't call them very accomplished. I mean, they weren't nearly as polished as this dress and they were not nearly as complex to make. I'm very happy with how this dress turned out. I'm even happier I took this sewing course in the first place because now I can make more dresses like this one! If you remember my November highlights post, you might remember that I've mentioned how I've recently finished a beginning fashion tailoring and sewing course with designer Stanka Zovko.

I promised to show you the dress I made for my course 'graduation'. At the end of this lovely sewing course, you get to choose not only what you're going to make, but also the material and the pattern.  The sewing pattern is typically chosen from one of the sewing magazines this designer has …

How To Style Animal Print? + An Autumnal Fairy Tale at Ethno Village Near Medugorje

With winter at our doorstep, I think it's important to make the most out of the left over autumn days. With that in mind, my husband and I payed another visit to our favourite (still not officially opened!) ethno village in vicinity of Medugorje. I wrote about this eco/ethno village a number of times, so if you want to know more (or just see more photographs) feel free to check out my old posts herehereherehere and here.  Autumn is Herzegovina is always gorgeous, and this year hasn't been an exception. We had some sudden weather changes and drastic changes of temperature, but I would still describe this autumn as a beautiful one. The Sunday this photographs were taken on was rather gorgeous, so I'm certainly glad we went on this little trip. I know I'm repeating myself, but I do cherish moments like this. Every time I step into this little village, I feel as if the time has stopped or rather like I have just travelled in time. It's such a charming place! I h…
