All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern novel follows two story lines and uses framed narration. The Island of Missing Trees tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter. This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story. The Island of Missing Trees is set in London and Cyprus. The narration isn't chronological . The story jumps back and forth, following ...
Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers. This post is going is going to combine literature and fashion. One could say that's a pretty common combination on my blog. When I post my book reviews, I like to add in some fashion images as well. In this post, I'll share a review for a few short story written by Maupassant, a French author. I'll also show you some cute outfits I wore, so let's get started. I'm sharing two outfits today, both of them have a touch of metallic in them. One of them is a more romantic lilac outfit worn with a silver cropped top, while the other is an all black look completed with a vintage black vest with golden imitation pearls. I think the vintage vest really added something to that look. Similarly, the silver cropped top complemented the lilac dress and skirt pretty well. The skirt and the dress I wore under the skirt and the top are both from a local brand Ozz by fashion designer Stanka Zovko. I'll share the links to 'how I wore it...
With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily. The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. What says summer better than Mediterranean and Sicily? Today we'll analyze Malena's style and see what we can learn from her. There is much to learn! Having analyzed looks that Monica wore in iconic Malena film, I...
Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll share a quick acrylic landscape painting of mine. I used one of my own photographs as a reference for this painting. The location is Buna canals, a nature monument located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's a truly magical place, and I'll tell you all about it in a bit, but first a few words about the art in question. I painted this landscape a year or two ago, and I actually ended up gifting it. To be completely honest, I do miss it. I'm quite generous with gifting my art, but I do occasionally end up missing a piece or two. There's something about a landscape painting that just makes one's eyes rest. If you have been following my blog, you'd know that TRAVEL WITH MY ART is a regular feature on my blog. So, what was my last travelling art post? TRAVEL WITH MY ART #37: A SEAVIEW FROM A PARK (SPLIT, CROATIA) was made last summer but posted this summer. That one was also a landscape painting. I guess...
EN Hello! Today I'm happy to share with you a wonderful fashion show I attended last Friday at Mostar International Fair. As you might remember, I regularly visit Mostar International Fair. Anyhow, this time I was there to see and support a really special fashion show. This fashion show showed creations from students who attended a fashion sewing and design course held by designer Stanka Zovko. If you remember, a few years back I attended this sewing and design course myself. I was invited to present my creations as well. I couldn't participate myself this year due to previous engagements, but who knows maybe next year I'll get the chance. How amazing would it be to participate as a fashion designer? Still, I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was just to attend this fashion show and see all the designs. It was such a terrific experience. HR Zdravo! Danas sa zadovoljstvom mogu podijeliti s vama prekrasnu modnu reviju kojoj sam prisustvovala prošlog...
