Ночной дозор/ night watch/ noćna straža/ De Nachtwacht

"But a resolution to avoid an evil is seldom framed till the evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible." As I was reading Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy (a lovely novel  albeit 400 pages of small print is enough to make your head hurt) I happened to come across this sentence and it struck some cord deep inside me. I haven't been able to get it out of my head, there is such a ring of truth to it. Why is that? Why do we only stop when it is too late? Light and dark always in constant struggle.

Night watch. What is your first impression upon hearing these words? Rembrandt perhaps? Yes, I do adore that painting but I have to say it made me think of that Russian film Night watch that I have enjoyed so much  and the novels by Russian writer Серге́й Васи́льевич Лукья́ненк  that the film was based on (Дневной дозор,Сумеречный дозор, Последний дозор... . Now, the novels I haven't had the chance to read yet but I plan to, as soon as I improve my knowledge of the Russian language.

Svijetlo i tama u vječnoj borbi.

Zašto naslov noćna straža? Zbog noćnih fotografija, a i usput da vam preporučim ruski film Noćna straža (može i nastavak) ako ga slučajno niste pogledali. Noćna straža...Fotografije snimljene noću obično su lošije kvalitete, a i ja nisam baš vična noćnoj fotografiji, ali ipak sam ih odlučila podijeliti.

Rarely do I post night outfits. I'm not really on the fist name basis with night photography. In addition, my day and nights outfits do not really differ that much. I always wear what I feel like wearing when I feel like wearing it.  Below I'm doing some window shopping. What a beautiful painting that is!

Koja prelijepa slika. Moram se raspitati čija je. A vi, lipi moji, kako ste mi?

  1. oh yes i agree that maxi skirt is sooo gorgeous!

  2. nice color bag!

  3. As always, you're adorable! Really, my friend. Hardy is right, unfortunately. I do not know why people do not think before they do bad things, but they think about it only when evil is done. It's so stupid .. makes no sense. But it's our world... so sad.
A big hug, little star. <3

    1. I don't know either. Perhaps it is just our human nature. We play with the fire until we get burned.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.

My fashion illustration of the day + book review / Moja modna ilustracija dana + ogled knjige ( Le Diable au corps) 6.12.2016

This morning I read an amazing novel. Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Perhaps I should make it a habit, getting up more early so I can read more.
Jutros sam pročitala divan roman. Đavo u tijelu  (naslov izvornika Le Diable au corps) je roman Raymonda Radiqueta. Vjerovali ili ne, ovo je moj prvi roman ovoga pisca. Mislim da nika…

Lado (drawing of the day/ crtež dana)

Hello everyone! Have I ever talked to you about my love for folklore? I've always been keen on exploring folklore dresses and costumes, mostly because I find them to be very inspirational. In my view, folklore is one of the best fashion inspiration out there. The diversity and the beauty of international folklore dresses and costumes is enough to leave anyone impressed. Here I illustrated one of Croatian national costumes ( we have a lot of them), worn by Croatian national folklore dance ensemble Lado. As a reference for this drawing, I used a photograph from Lado's official catalog. The medium is coloured pencils on papers.
Zdravo svima!

Fashion illustrations of the day (markers)

Hello darlings! How are you? Can you believe that February ends today? This month has just flown by. I know it's the shortest month in the year but still. Today I'm going to share 3 fashion illustrations and sketches with you. The medium for all of them is marker on paper. I don't work with markers that often, but sometimes it is good to try something different. The fashion sketches I'm sharing are all about 3 colours: purple, green and red. Spring is in the air, so this is my reflection on all those trends for the new season. The first illustration shows a girl wearing a purple and blue jumpsuit. The second illustration features a girl wearing a transparent green dress with a top and a skirt under that dress. The third illustration shows two girls in red gowns.
