This wool beret is my fav cap for this winter! It is so soft and warm:)In addition, I like the colour, reminds me of white coffee.

Ova vunena francuzica je moj najdraži izbor pokrivala za glavu ove zime zato jer je mekana i topla, a i sviđa mi se boja, posjeća me na bijelu kavu.

Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll share another destination painting of mine. You know what that means- it's time for another TRAVEL WITH MY ART post! Today I'm taking you to Herzeg Stjepan Kosaca fortress. This stunning historical fortress overlooking Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a sight to behold. Trying to capture its magical beauty in a painting was a challenge!  The medium for this painting is acrylic paints on cotton canvas. The painting process was actually quite long and tedious. I've worked on this painting since Autumn and I only finished it towards the end of Summer. I rushed the painting towards the end, because I wanted to participate in the joint artist exhibition. There was a submission deadline to meet, so I submitted this canvas not feeling confident it's actually finished. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. THE FALL OF EDWARD BARNARD, A SHORT STORY BY W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM

In this post, I'll share a review for a short story The Fall of Edward Barnard by William Somerset Maugham.  Published in 1921,  The Fall of Edward Barnard    is a wonderfully ambiguous and modernist piece of writing that through irony, contrasts the the East and the West. Indeed, you might say that Maugham criticizes the Western culture, or at least its perceived inability to appreciate other cultures, and a simpler way of life. At the same time, this critique is not overly negative and he recognizes the progress that the Western culture achieved. Even while Barnard questions the price of industrial progress of the West, he doesn't ridicule it and is very much aware of its advantages. VISIT MDINA & RABAT WITH IVANA!

Hello dear readers! Today I'll invite you to join me on my visit to Mdina on Malta. I visited Mdina with my namesake friend in March 2022. It was three years ago that I visited Malta for a rather long (two week) long holiday during which I explored the island both with my friends and alone. I blogged about some of my visits, but I decided to save the best for last. Mdina has a fascinating history and hence deserves a post of its own.  Mdina is a historical fortified city, once a capital of Malta, that is still confined within its walls. What to say about this ancient capital of Malta? It has been populated since prehistory and it served as Malta's capital from ancient times to the middle ages.  It's a truly beautiful city and understandably -one quite popular with the tourists. TEHANU, A NOVEL BY URSULA K. LE GUIN (BOOK REVIEW)

 Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll review Tenahu , the fourth novel in the Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin. The novel reintroduces Tenar as the novel's protagonist. If you remember my previous reviews, Tenar was absent from the third book, so I was thrilled to read about her again. This fourth novel didn't disappoint. It connects quite nicely with the third one.   Published in 1990,  twenty years after the third novel in the series, Tehanu takes of where the third novel ended.   The Farthest shore  is for a variety of reasons often marketed and sold as the last book in the Earthsea Cycle. As I explained it my last post, it's mostly due to a two decades long publishing pause. However, I wonder if there's not something more to it. Isn't it perhaps the case that people were so used to fantasy trilogies that they immediately assumed that this is it? Fortunately, it wasn't! Now, for  Tenahu Ursula herself chose the subtitle...
