STREET STYLE IMOTSKI, CROATIA (PHOTOGRAPHY )

Today I'm sharing with you a  few photos from a lovely small town Imotski. Located in Croatia, this beautiful city has a number of attractions. 

SOME INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA: 
Imotski (Croatian pronunciation: [ǐmɔtskiː]; Italian: Imoschi; Latin: Emotha, later Imota) is a small town on the northern side of the Biokovo massif in the Dalmatian Hinterland of southern Croatia, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Imotski, like the surrounding inland Dalmatia, has a generally mild Mediterranean climate which makes it a popular tourist destination.



The town is located close to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, 10 km away from Posušje and 18 km from Grude. It is located 29 km away from the coast (Baška Voda). The nearest coastal town is Makarska, on the other side of the Biokovo massif.

The town is located on the crossroad of D60 and D76 state roads and 20 km from the Sveti Ilija Tunnel. The A1 motorway is accessed at the Zagvozd Interchange, next to the D76 expressway.

Imotski is known for its medieval fortress on the rocks of Blue Lake. Another phenomenon is the Red Lake which looks like an eye in the scenery. Both lakes are said to be connected with underground channels to the Adriatic Sea.


The climate is modified Mediterranean, with the highest air temperature averaging 26 °C (79 °F) during July and the lowest averaging 5 °C (41 °F), in January. Summers are usually very hot during the day, temperature goes up to 40 °C.

Temperatures above 10 °C (50 °F) last for more than 250 days a year.

Two kinds of wind are common in the area - the northern to north-eastern bora, which usually brings cold and clear weather in winter, and the southern to south-eastern sirocco, which often brings rain.

THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. This morning I read an amazing novel.  Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Hello everyone! Have I ever talked to you about my love for folklore? I've always been keen on exploring folklore dresses and costumes, mostly because I find them to be very inspirational. In my view, folklore is one of the best fashion inspiration out there. The diversity and the beauty of international folklore dresses and costumes is enough to leave anyone impressed. Here I illustrated one of Croatian national costumes ( we have a lot of them), worn by Croatian national folklore dance ensemble Lado. River Buna Revisited / Rijeka Buna ponovni posjet

About a week ago, we decided to head out to banks of river Buna. It is the perfect getaway when we only have an hour or two to spare. Weather that day was very odd. It was quite windy but quite warm. It is always tricky to get dressed for that kind of weather.  I decided to wear a retro girly outfit, a sort of school uniform. I kind of felt like a young lady at the begging of the last century. I've had this silver silk blouse for a long time and I still love it. I think it is the only silk clothing item in my closet. The funny thing is that the wind kept undoing  the bow on my blouse, so I had to tie it over and over again.  Apart from that, this was the perfect outfit for that day.I know that the poloneck that is visible under the blouse won't be to everyone's liking, but I love wearing them like that. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO 2024 MOVIE REVIEW

In this post, I'll share with you a review of  The Count of Monte Cristo.  I don't go to theatre/movies often. In fact, years have been known to pass without me seeing a film on the big screen. However, when I saw the poster for the new 2024  The Count of Monte Cristo movie, I knew I simply had to go.  I really wanted to see this film, and I didn't even read the reviews or watch the trailer for it. I wasn't even intimidated by the fact it is a three hours long. Afterall, it's based on a rather long novel, so I didn't expect it to be short.  Now, I usually review books on my blog, not movies. However, perhaps this film review won't come as a surprise to you. Hi everyone! It's time for another  Inspired by ....post. The medium is acrylic on cardboard. This time I illustrated Tijana from fashion abejita . Painting lace is always a challenge and I'm aware that I have a long way to go when it comes to illustrating fabrics, but all things considering, I think I did pretty well. In fact, I'm quite happy with how this painting turned out. This outfit is a summery one, but it is suitable for Spring as well. Besides, green is in this Spring.  Zdravo svima! Hello, in this post I'll share a designer fashion illustration. I know what you're thinking. It's Summer, how can you think about coats? Well, I can. The sweat is literally dripping down by forehead, but I'm going to share an illustration inspired by Diane Von Furstenberg's 2018 Resort collection. It is always good to look forward to something, right? I'm pretty sure that a lot of ladies are looking forward to this collection hitting the stores this November. What I personally find so irresistible about it are- the colours. I'm very keen on bold colours and patterns, so no wonder this collection caught my eye. Znam što mislite.
