Bohemian vibes with Zaful

Image
It just occurred to me that the bohemian style is a very practical choice when it comes to transitional outfits. Layers are one of the key factors in bohemian fashion and they sure do come in handy once the weather starts to cooldown. What better time to layer than in between the seasons? There seems to be something restless about bohemian style, something that makes me think of words like ‘wanderlust’ and ‘discovering’. Is it travelling I’m thinking about? Or just that feeling of discovering something new, trying something for the first time, taking a chance and putting on a smile?  A smile of defiance and warmth. Not the kind of smile we smile when everything is perfect, but the kind when nothing is right but we still find a reason to smile about. One of those surprise grins. The joy of unexpected. New places, new horizons…. Yes, movement is implied in bohemian style, perhaps that is where the ethnic prints come in.  Our innate fascination with discovering, maybe it com...

Late Summer. Finally, I can sense the transition in the air, that sense of change that is so much more than just the fact of temperature starting to drop. The nature is starting to dance according to a new beat and everything is about to change. The air is beginning to cool down, epecially in the morning and in the evening. Still, the Summer lingers. Caught between the seasons feels like being caught up in some old memory, Hidding away from life in some old jazz bar, caught between the desire to act and to withdraw. Yet, what is life? Isn't it also memories and being wrapped up in our thoughts? Isn't it also a sense of change and uncertainty? Kasno ljeto. Zrak postaje hladniji, pogotovo ujutro i navečer.

Inspired by...Rae / Nadahnuta s..........Rae

Today it's time for another Inspired by post and in this case that means I'm sharing a new drawing with you. The medium is coloured pencils on paper (in more ways than one), but I also used dried rose pedals to create this illustration.  Inspired by is a regular feature on my blog in which I post illustrations of bloggers. This time I was inspired by Rae from site  Love From Berlin. Ovaj put me nadahnula Rae s stranice Love From Berlin . Inspired by Love from Berlin

Summer in Mostar.  It is all about the sun. High temperatures and lots of sunshine. If you visit Mostar in Summer better be prepared for the heat. Don't forget to drink plenty of water and wear light clothing. You better know where to look for the shade. Fortunately, there are a lot of trees in Mostar under which you can hide from the sun. One of the places with enough shade is this famous street with plane trees originally planted to welcome Belgian princess Stephanie (find out more  here and here ). Ljeto u Mostaru. Sunce, sunce i sunce. Visoke temperature i puno sunčeve svjetlosti.

Book recommendation / Preporuka knjige: Sailing to Sarantium, Guy Gavriel Kay

Image
Today I have a book recommendation for you. It is a novel   Sailing to Sarantium  by Canadian writer Guy Gavriel Kay, the first novel is Sarantine Mosaic duology. This was my third novel by this author, previously I had read Tigana and A Song for Arbonne . Gay Gavriel Kay often creates his fantasy worlds having in mind a specific historical period.   This novel, being set in a historical world very much akin to 6th century Mediterranean world,  is no exception. Many of its characters are based on real historical figures, for example emperor Justinian I (known as a man who never sleeps) becomes Valerious II in this novel and his empress Theodora (a former courtesan turned great ruler and queen) appears under name Aliana.  Sarantium, the embodiment of culture and art in this novel, is based on Constantinople during the reign of Justinian I.  This novel has a lot to offer. I'm sure that historical lovers will enjoy parallels with the actual hi...

Every colour has both positive and negative connotations and so is the case with red. As a colour it is associated with action, be it a romantic or hostile. It is the colour of movement and it is said that it can even raise our energy levels. That is why it is used for traffic signs and as a sign of warning. It is a colour that grabs our attention. However, it is also said that being exposed to too much red can cause us to feel irritated. This is a colour that doesn't allow us to be indifferent. Red. The colour of love and passion.  It is all the rave on the Valentine's day. Red planet. The god of war.  Red has its sinister meaning as well. Red is the colour of influence. Supposedly, red can boost our appetite so restaurants use in their decor. Still, it is not recommended to use too much of it in inner décor. Red is an interesting colour, that’s for sure. In many cultures it is considered a sign of good luck. Moreover, in many cultures red is traditionally the colour of brid...
