Inspired by....Nadahnuta s........

At the moment, I'm fighting between my desire to sleep and my desire to blog. I'm sure you fellow bloggers understand me. It doesn't help that I stayed up late sewing last night. My desire to blog has won over! Who needs sleep? Pfff! I'm just kidding, naturally. I wish I was one of those people that can cope well with a lack of sleep but I look ghastly if I don't get enough sleep. More importantly, I don't feel like myself. Yet sometimes we must go where inspiration takes us even if that means zombi mode the next day. What was I going to say? You see, even my eloquence has suddenly abandoned me. So, let's take it lightly this evening. It's time for one of my favourite features on this blog and that is Inspired by.  I'm very happy because I managed to keep this feature on my blog for so long. If you're not familiar with it, it's pretty simple. In this feature I post my paintings of bloggers that inspired me. This time I'm posting six pain...

Imprimatur ( ...and why is leather jacket always a good choice? ...i zašto je kožna jakna uvijek dobar izbor?)

I bought Imprimatur by Rita Monaldi and Francesco Sorti a while back, but totally forgot about it. I discovered and read it last month.  I wouldn't go so far as calling it a page-turner but it was an interesting book to read. The fact that the authors did a lot of reasearch before publishing this novel was obvious but they could have done a better job presenting their finds. Long story short, it is an enjoyable read but it lacks dept. What Monaldi & Sorti wrote is not a bad book, but in opinion it is not really a novel. By that I mean it is not a work of literature.  It is not something that will be studied at the Universities. In other words, it's no Umberto Eco. The characters are a bit stereotyped and predictable. The plot is good but some things are repeated ad nauseum. I do recommend it as it seems to be better than what you can find in historical fiction genre these days. Plus, it is clear that the authors did put some effort into it. So, I give it my recommendan...

Art exhibition (Dubrovnik's Intermezzo) / Izložba slika (Dubrovački intermezzo) Josip Škerlj.

I visited Josip Škerlj's art exhibition four days ago, i.e. on the very day it was opened. I happened to find myself there a few hours before the official opening ceremony. I'm glad it turned out that way because it gave me an opportunity to view this amazing collection of paintings without being rushed. There was nobody there at the time, no other visitors, just me and my husband. So, I took my time. One thing that amazed me is how different all of these paintings look when you see them from a different perspective. I walked up and down the gallery like a crazy person just so I can get different views and perspectives of these paintings. I don't know how to describe it, but every painting felt magical. Literally every painting undergoes a metamorphosis and changes when you move to see it from another angle or when the light changes. That is true art. Pure magic. Paintings that have a soul. As the name itself implies (Dubrovnik's intermezzo) this exhibition is insp...
