EASTER EGGS DYED WITH CREPE PAPER

Image
Happy Easter Monday to those of you celebrating it! As promised yesterday , today I'll show you my Easter eggs. This year we dyed the eggs with crepe (tissue) paper and vinegar. This was the first time I tried this method. The idea came from my husband, he wanted to try something new and so we did just that. The only problem we faced was finding white eggs. We searched for them in all the supermarkets for a few days in a row. Fortunately, my husband managed to find some locals selling organic white eggs at an open market near Mostar. So, in the end it all worked out for the best. The eggs turned out so much better than I expect. Some of the photographs I found online of eggs dyed with this method weren't very impressive so I had some doubts.  As some of you may know, I'm a fan of traditional methods and eggs dyes (such as onion peels and vine) but I was pleasantly surprised by this method. The eggs ended up looking so pretty that I didn't want to eat them. Scroll down t...

A STUDY OF MICHELANGELO'S PIETA SCULPTURE

Image
Hello dear readers! Today I'm sharing a study of Michelangelo's Pieta with you. I did this study with watercolour pencils (Staedtler brand, not sponsored). I first sketched it and then added water with a brush. I completed the painting in January but I waited until now to post it because it didn't seem appropriate to post it around Christmas and NYE related holidays. Today is Holy Saturday, so I would say that my timing is pretty correct. I will post something more cheerful for Easter day. Anyhow, I used a photograph from a book about Vatical as a reference. I had the pleasure to visit Vatican and Rome myself (read more about my visit here , here , here ). I remember being very moved by this statue. It is one of Michelangelo's best know works and a true masterpiece.   Here is some information about this statue, quoted from Wikipedia page ( here ): " The   Pietà   ( Italian:  [pjeˈta] ; English:   "the Pity" ; 1498–1499) is a work of   Renaissance ...

FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: RED PUFFER AND SUNGLASSES

Image
Hello! It's time for another Friday Fashion illustration. See the last post in my fashion illustrating series here . This time I'm sharing an illustration of an outfit I actually wore. This fashion illustration wasn't without dilemmas. I sketched it with watercolour pencils and added water like I usually do, but it looked too plain so I added some finishing touches with acrylic paints. In the end, it turned out alright. I would probably change some things if I were to do it again.  I didn't really settle for one photograph as a reference but did a looser impression of the outfit. If I were to paint this outfit again, I would  probably choose one photograph and stick with it. Anyhow, I revamped the illustration for my redbubble art shop by editing it with some of my rose art and titled it A Girl Lost in Roses . Not really related to my hiking trip but I've been doing a lot of floral designs for my redbubble shop so I wanted to keep up the rose theme. You will be able...
