a little place to call my own (art and fashion blog)

Here is one of the reproductions I painted as a part of that art course I took last month. It depicts a frozen lake. The background is dominated by the mountains and the clouds. I do like the composition of this painting. I'm glad I chose to paint this one. Painting the forest was an interesting task. I think that it is supposed to be a painting of a landscape in late Autumn. The lake is frozen, but the leaves on trees are golden and red.  I spent a lot of time on these clouds (you can see the progress on Insta account here and here )  and in the end, I'm not quite satisfied with how they have turned out but well. The medium is oil on canvas. I love oil paints, but you already know that. The painting hangs on the wall in my home at the moment. I don't plan to frame it. I'm not sure what I will do it. Perhaps give it to somebody? I think it would make for a nice gift. Paintings of landscapes are usually a good neutral choice. That is all for...

This post is a continuation of this one . I planned to published it on 31th of December (that way it would follow the first book round up that was published on 30th), but  I had guests coming over for dinner and NYE celebration (last minute thing ) so I put it on hold and I'm publishing it now. Between these two posts, I think I managed to cover most of book reviews I did last year. I decided I won't include them all in this round up because it would just be too much. I didn't include any books reviews from my other blog either- much for the same reason. I think these two round ups are more than enough. Funny how things change. I used to call myself a summer girl. I didn't use to like Winter at all. I couldn't see what is there to love. To me Winter was something to be endured, until beloved Spring arrives. Winter felt like an awkward period or phase that can't be avoided, something like what caterpillar has to go through before it becomes a butterfly. I couldn't see much beauty in the season itself. I would count days until the arrival of the long awaited Summer. Now, seeing snow on the hills makes me as happy as a child. I don't recall liking snow before. Things change. So do our tastes. Where I didn't used to see anything remarkable, now I see beauty. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I now see that Winter hides many marvellous things to behold and to cherish. The stars twinkle more clearly in the Winter. The nature seems oddly peaceful.
