RED ACCENTS FOR WINTER (LUNAR YEAR OUTFIT IDEAS)

For me, the red is the colour of love, good luck and passion. With Lunar Year Festivities and Valentine's Day being just around the corner, it is the perfect time to start embracing and wearing red. How to wear red in the winter? Now, it doesn't have to be a red from head to toe outfit. If you're not confident enough to rock the all red look or you don't want to invest into red clothing items, you can always start small and opt for red accessories such as scarves, leggings/tights, hats, bags, shoes and etc. Moreover, you can embrace red with your beauty options. The bold red lip look will never get old. A nice red manicure is always a classic. If you're bold enough, you can even try embracing the red eye-shadow trend.
HOW TO WEAR RED ACCENTS IN WINTER?

1. RED ACCESSORIES: JEWELRY ITEMS, HAIR ACCESSORIES, SCARVES, BAGS, TIGHTS/ LEGGINGS AND HATS/BEANIES
There are so many ways to accessorize with red.  Jewellery (or jewelry if you prefer the American spelling) is another lovely way to embrace this trend. Red corals jewelry items is also an option as they are both classical and luxurious. My coral pieces are all authentic Adriatic sea corals, but if you aren't sure you'll always wear them, you can always buy fakes and imitations.  You can also try some DIY projects. Take for example this pair of statement red earrings. If you don't have any, you can even play a little DIY trick. Bellow you can see a pair of red loop earrings I decorated by adding coloured thread to them.  You can just add some red treat to some of your earrings and end up with a fun pair of earrings. Moreover, you can use some old red fabric to make a DIY necklace. That is what I did to create a statement the two heart shaped necklaces you can see bellow.

Read shoes (particularly heels) are a great way to add some spice into our outfits. Think Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and her ruby shoes (the film version, I was surprised to find the magic shoes weren't red in the book).

The next red accessory I cannot imagine my life without is a red scarf or shawl. I especially like the tartan ones. Tartan print is one of my favourite prints, especially when we talk about those predominately red tartan fabrics. If you are a beginner with the whole wearing red thing, well then a printed item with a lot of red in it can be the perfect starting point.

Another red accessory I swear by are red beanies and baseball caps. Simply perfect for winter months, red caps can be the perfect pop of colour for our outfits. The added bonus is that they keep us warm. The same thing goes for red gloves. They are a great way to add red accents to our winter outfit.

I hate stating the obvious, but red bags are such a fantastic red accent. If you have any red bags, now is the time to pull them out. Bright red in particular looks fantastic paired with just about anything.

2. RED NAILS AND MAKE UP (A RED LIP IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA!)
Including your beauty into you make up and manicure routine counts too. A red lip is such a great classic and the same can be said for red manicure. When done right, the red lip and manicure can look incredibly elegant and timeless while being very feminine and glam at the same time. Master the red lip and nails and you got yourself the winter accent of your dreams.

3. FOLKLORE ITEMS AND ACCESSORIES (BECAUSE THEY OFTEN HAVE RED IN THEM).
Have you noticed how often ethnic and folklore items have red tones in them? That is because red was (and still is) considered the colour of love and passion. Long story short, folklore and ethnic prints can be a great way to bring more red into your winter outfits. My Croatian folklore bag is one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe. Croatia also has this great tradition of making hard candy in shape of a heart. These hearts, now well known souvenirs, were originally gifted as Valentine's day gifts. You can even wear them as necklaces. Basically, studying folklore is always great way to be inspired and freshen up your sense of style.

Thank you for reading and visiting! Have a lovely day.

    Baci!

  22. Ah yes is so much fun and eye catching for sure. Back in the day, many women were afraid to wear red as it suggested they were fast and lose with their morals, can you imagine? Not today though. But that said head to toe red can still be a little daunting. Love how you incorporated this bold color in to all of your looks.

  23. You have a great range of red items in your wardrobe from clothing to accessories. I agree that it's such a fun color to wear and there are so many shades so everyone is bound to find one that they're comfortable with. I love deep shades of burgundy myself as they work best with my skintone. I just got a new burgundy beret that I saving to debut during the Lunar New Year.
