Details from my home (Easter edition) / Detalji iz moga doma ( Uskršnje izdanje)

Details from my home is not a very frequent feature on my blog (for a number of reasons). For one, the decor in my home doesn't change that often. Moreover, I often include photographs from my home when I do book reviews or when my publish my art. So, you see bits of my home anyway. However, this Easter I did some home made decorations so it seems like a good idea to share them here. In addition, I wanted to show you how I decorated my Easter eggs this year. I tried many different techniques but my favourite one is a traditional one. This traditional technique  consist from decorating the eggs with plants ( the eggs are placed in a pair of tights to secure the plants in place) and then cooking the eggs in onion peels so you get this (in my opinion) absolutely gorgeous colour. If you want to see the results of this traditional method, scroll down.

If you want to see my previous post from this (Details from my home) feature you can check them out here, here  , here and here.

DIY PROJECT OF THE DAY:

How to refresh an old basket?

My husband wanted to throw this old basket into garbage, but I decided to turn it into something useful. So, I painted it  white acrylic colours and used it as a piece of decor for this Easter. I don't plan to get rid of it. I'm sure I'll manage to find some good usage for it in my new home.  When it comes to seasonal decor, I think it's always a good idea to try to incorporate it into our homes.

NAPRAVI SAM PROJEKT DANA

DIY of the day

How much seasonal decor is enough?

You really don't need to have tons of seasonal decor. Sometimes a few small things are enough. The trick is in knowing to work with what you already have. However, there is nothing wrong in having tons of seasonal decorations if that is something you truly enjoy. Some people are very enthusiastic when it comes to seasonal decor and I actually think that's very sweet. Still, you shouldn't feel pressured to be one of those people. When it comes to decorating your own home, you should really think about what makes you happy. It's your home, you know. You don't have to put out a single Easter/Christmas/whatever decoration if that is just not your thing.

  1. Prelepa dekoracija, posebno ova korpica koju si modernizovala.
Ja sam se baš ovog Uskrsa setila ovog načina ukrašavanja jaja, verovatno ću ga isprobati, ali narednih godina. :)

  8. We don't we really change up the decor in our home too often either and besides Christmas I don't do much seasonal decorating. It's always fun to get into the festive spirit though. I like your idea of keeping it simple and using what you already have. The traditional method which you have decorated your Easter eggs looks like a sure bet and the marbled effect is quite beautiful.

  9. Lots of homes are filled with treasures that the owners don't know what to do with. The term one man's trash is another's treasure comes to mind. I so agree with knowing what to do with what you have. I totally love what you did with the basket. Those eggs look so beautiful. I don't change my decor often but once in a while I run into a must have piece and I can't help myself. Hope your weekend was terrific Ivana!

  13. I meni se sviđaju pisanice bojane starih tehnikama: luk, vosak, listovi biljaka. Mi ih doma nismo tako radili vjerojatno preko 15 godina jer ipak smo bili klinci pa nam je to bilo dosadno i bezveze, ali moji djed i baka ih još uvijek na taj način oslikavaju.

  14. Dear Ivana, in the past I decorated a lot in each season! But I have to admit the older I get the less I do some decoration :) Honestly, I don't like to remove the decoration, maybe this is the reason. What you decorated for Easter is very lovely and now I want to try one piece of your cake immediately at it looks so yummy! Thanks for sharing this beautiful post.
