Winter magic / Zimska čarolija

Funny how things change. I used to call myself a summer girl. I didn't use to like Winter at all. I couldn't see what is there to love. To me Winter was something to be endured, until beloved Spring arrives. Winter felt like an awkward period or phase that can't be avoided, something like what caterpillar has to go through before it becomes a butterfly. I couldn't see much beauty in the season itself. I would count days until the arrival of the long awaited Summer. Now, seeing snow on the hills makes me as happy as a child. I don't recall liking snow before. Things change. So do our tastes. Where I didn't used to see anything remarkable, now I see beauty. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I now see that Winter hides many marvellous things to behold and to cherish. The stars twinkle more clearly in the Winter. The nature seems oddly peaceful. There is so much beauty to be found in this season. I don't know how I didn't see it before. Winter is magical. My opinion about this season change. Our opinions change.  So does everything. Life is all about change. Learning to let go, learning to embrace changes- this can be so important.

Alright, enough philosophy for tonight or I won't be done writing this before midnight. A few words about the outfit and the location. Only a few because there is not that much to say. This is just a cozy sporty outfit. I'm wearing sweatpants and boots. Something some would call the epitome of bad taste- but hey we only live once. It was a comfy combo and I felt quite warm. This is important because I wore this outfit for a very long evening walk in Mostar. These photographs were taken in front of restaurant Radobolja. As you can see, they really went all the way with holiday decorations this year.

I naši ukusi. Gdje prije nisam vidjela ništa posebno, sada vidim ljepotu.

Par riječi o odjevnoj kombinaciji i lokaciji. Nosim trenerku i čizme.

  4. Actually I think you made this sweatpants and boots combination look quite chic. The advent of the athlesiure trend makes it ok to wear athletic wear as fashion which is certainly great for those who want to be comfortable as well as stylish. There is a beauty to every season including winter but I can't say I'll ever be a fan of the extreme cold.

  10. These light installations are so cute! Hehe, I often wear sweatpants and boots when walking the dogs in winter ;) Sometimes it's simply best to wear something comfortable and cozy. And I love the saying 'Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder'. It's just so apt and true...we're all individuals with different perceptions, preferences and our own take on the world. Hope you had a lovely start to the New Year!

  17. You said it so well! I agree with you, there is beauty everywhere, but we don't always recognize it. While snow is beautiful, I must say I don't miss it terribly - living in the climate where it is cold, dark and lots of snow for 6 month of the year, makes it really hard to miss it. I enjoy our mild climate now (and yours is probably similar to mine). Our "winter" is not really a winter - it's just one long Autumn slowly becoming Spring - first flowers will be seen soon.

    Much love!

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.

FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: INSPIRED BY SUMMER STYLE

Time for another FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY! Today I'll share four fashion illustrations with you. The medium for all these four illustrations is coloured pencils on A4 regular printing paper.  The materials used weren't anything fancy, but I still wanted to share these. I drew two of these sketches without a specific reference. The outfits illustrated were a product of my imagination. However, the other two fashion illustrations were drawn with a reference. I was inspired by two fashion bloggers and I drew the summer outfits they were wearing. The illustrations are drawn in classical proportions, not elongated ones that I often use for fashion sketches. I do draw in different styles, sometimes the choice of style depends on the artistic effect I'm going to and sometimes just on  my mood (especially when I'm not doing anything particulary ambitious). 14 WAYS TO STYLE ONE BLUE DENIM SKIRT: SUSTAINABLE FASHION FILES

Sustainable fashion is such a hot topic right now, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a fashion revolution. More and more people are trying to minimize their carbon print by re-wearing their clothes and shopping their closets. One good way to build a functioning wardrobe you'll love to shop is to make sure you have a couple of essential items in it. These basic pieces can help you shop your closet more easily and become more sustainable in your fashion choices. A denim skirt is one such classical and essential item.  Today I'll show you ten ways to style a denim skirt. I had this particular denim skirt for a couple of years, it's by Croatian denim brand Amadeus (not sponsored) that I can recommend for its quality denim. For me this skirt is one of those items that are season-less and by that I mean those clothing items that can be worn in any season. If you're creative enough, you can figure out a way to wear most of your clothes in any season, but some ite…

HOW I GOT INSPIRED BY D&G AUTUMN/WINTER 2019/2020 COLLECTION? (PART 1)

Yesterday I finally took the the time to watch (and listen) to the Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 collection. The runaway show was organized in retro style and lasted about half and hour. Instead of music, it featured a British narrator who commented on the designs in the old style (that is how fashion shows used to be presented, narrated instead of accompanied by the music). Anyhow, I found the both the narration and the narrator charming. The fact that the narrator pointed out all the materials used was quite helpful. The models seemed to move quite quickly, but there were 127 looks displayed so the show took a quite some time to finish. It took me twice as long to study the photographs as to see the show. The trend analysis took even more time. However, that time was not spent in vain for I was finally inspired to ponder my autumn and winter outfits. What do you know? D&G Autumn/Winter collection gave me plenty of inspiration for the colder season ahead. I don'…
