knit cap (beanie) / pletena kapa uz glavu

As far as I can remember, I had always loved wearing caps. It is the perfect winter accessory... keeping us warm, making us more stylish and sometimes even hiding a bad hair day. Beanies, however,  I had accepted fully only last year when I had finally realized how useful they can be.

A knit cap (also known as beanie, skully or tuque) was originally made from wool but now it is often made from synthetic materials.  I'm fortunate to have a few made from pure wool (thank you grandmother!) In fact, I never purchased a beanie. I just found a few old ones in my closet, stole a few from hubbie's...

According to wikipedia, booble hat (cap topped with a pom- pom) and knit caps with ear flaps are also considered to be beanies. Well, I have to admit I didn't know that. Knit caps with ear flaps I always regarded as typical winter caps and haven't thought of them as beanies (same goes for booble hats). If we are going to stick to that definition of a beanie,  I guess I have worn beanies before but haven't realize it.

Wikipedia also states that in USA (and Canada where word tuque is used), the word beanie is used to denote a different type of cap, one made from fabric. I'm not sure to what extent that is true. I think that the word beanie is used more and more in the USA as well. Moreover, I think that the word beanie is now used to that extent that its meaning had become broader everywhere. It now incorporates both knit caps and those caps made from fabric that resemble knit caps (but not those caps from fabric that are not close- fitting)  That's my option, anyway. Usually I'm good at these sorts of things. I used to score something like 95 percent on vocabulary tests in my student days.

Nije bitno kako god ih definiramo, zimske pletene kape i kapice su divna stvar, idealan modni dodatak i zaštita protiv hladnoće.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.
