How are you my darlings? I'm all nice, cozy, sleepy and happy to have put some things (that needed to be done) behind me...Finishing up another Amos Oz's novel and wondering at the effortlessness with which he writes and the mastery he seems to have with the words, but at the same time I have to say that I love the writers that seems to struggle with writing, the ones that you have a feeling gave everything into it...but before going further with this, I'll just cut it short...as you can see, Aba ( Malena didn't stick- long story) is so adorable that I will forgive her for all the marks that her paws and teeth have made on my skin, but as I said this breed requires some attention.

The shirt is DIY and this lovely bag was a present...now, the shorts...I've found them in the closet and then my mum said " Hey, I wore that shorts in my post natal phase." Thanks mum! Really, this is what you wore after you gave birth?... but whatever doubts they might raise, I'm sticking with them because I love high waist shorts and I haven't been able to find any I like. Today's post is going to be monolingual as I'm too tired to think. xoxo

THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. This morning I read an amazing novel.  Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Hello everyone! Have I ever talked to you about my love for folklore? I've always been keen on exploring folklore dresses and costumes, mostly because I find them to be very inspirational. In my view, folklore is one of the best fashion inspiration out there. The diversity and the beauty of international folklore dresses and costumes is enough to leave anyone impressed. Here I illustrated one of Croatian national costumes ( we have a lot of them), worn by Croatian national folklore dance ensemble Lado. As a reference for this drawing, I used a photograph from Lado's official catalog. The medium is coloured pencils on papers. Zdravo svima! About a week ago, we decided to head out to banks of river Buna. It is the perfect getaway when we only have an hour or two to spare. Weather that day was very odd. It was quite windy but quite warm. It is always tricky to get dressed for that kind of weather.  I decided to wear a retro girly outfit, a sort of school uniform. I kind of felt like a young lady at the begging of the last century. I've had this silver silk blouse for a long time and I still love it. I think it is the only silk clothing item in my closet. The funny thing is that the wind kept undoing  the bow on my blouse, so I had to tie it over and over again.  Apart from that, this was the perfect outfit for that day.I know that the poloneck that is visible under the blouse won't be to everyone's liking, but I love wearing them like that. In this post, I'll share with you a review of  The Count of Monte Cristo.  I don't go to theatre/movies often. In fact, years have been known to pass without me seeing a film on the big screen. However, when I saw the poster for the new 2024  The Count of Monte Cristo movie, I knew I simply had to go.  I really wanted to see this film, and I didn't even read the reviews or watch the trailer for it. I wasn't even intimidated by the fact it is a three hours long. Afterall, it's based on a rather long novel, so I didn't expect it to be short.  Now, I usually review books on my blog, not movies. However, perhaps this film review won't come as a surprise to you. Hi everyone! It's time for another  Inspired by ....post. The medium is acrylic on cardboard. This time I illustrated Tijana from fashion abejita . Painting lace is always a challenge and I'm aware that I have a long way to go when it comes to illustrating fabrics, but all things considering, I think I did pretty well. In fact, I'm quite happy with how this painting turned out. This outfit is a summery one, but it is suitable for Spring as well. Besides, green is in this Spring.  Zdravo svima! Hello, in this post I'll share a designer fashion illustration. I know what you're thinking. It's Summer, how can you think about coats? Well, I can. The sweat is literally dripping down by forehead, but I'm going to share an illustration inspired by Diane Von Furstenberg's 2018 Resort collection. It is always good to look forward to something, right? I'm pretty sure that a lot of ladies are looking forward to this collection hitting the stores this November.
