How To Turn Disposable Coffee Cups Into Artsy Containers (DIY Project of the Day: Upycling)

Image
Hello! Today I'm back with another DIY project. You know how much I love upcycling, right? So, I decided to turn two old cardboard coffee cups in containers. These two cups were made from recycled material (like most of coffee cups). Still, I rarely pick up coffee in disposable cups for a number of reasons. One of them is that I've read that only 1 percent of disposable coffee cups ever gets recycled despite the fact they're made from recycled material because apparently the whole process of recycling them is complicated. So, disposable coffee cups are made from recycled material, but are not being recycled themselves and it seems to be this big environmental problem. Anyhow, if you're interested in recycling, this might be a  fun idea for you.   I think I only bought take away coffee a few times and every time I used the cup for something creative because it just feels wrong to throw it in the trash. We all know that plastic coffee cups are an environmen...

Inspired By The Sea: Acrylic Paintings

Image
Today I will show you some new sea inspired art I've been working on. I've painted two seaside landscapes lately and I'm working on some new sea inspired art. The medium for both of these paintings is acrylic on mixed art paper. I do like working on this kind of paper, it's a fun alternative to canvas. Soon I will have a new group exhibition and I'm looking forward to showing you those works as well. Do you love the sea? Are you inspired by the sea? With these two paintings, I really concentrated on the waves. I do love to watch the restless movement of the sea. When I used to live by the sea, I could stare at the sea for hours. There is something quite magical about it. A few years ago I wrote this ( here ): 'Science proved that life on Earth originated in the sea but in our hearts we must have had always felt it. Why otherwise would we feel so inspired by the sea? Who of us has not felt his or her heart opening up while mesmerized by the dee...

How To Style Dad Sneakers? Outfit Proposal + The Help (movie and book recommendation)

Image
Dad's sneakers. Love them or hate them, there is no denying they're one of the hottest trends. I only have one such pair, and to be honest I have had it for a while. I bought this pair of white trainers something like seven years ago. Yeah, that long ago. I wish I could tell you the name of the brand, because they have proven to be a great purchase but the brand name is no longer clearly visible. Anyway, if you feel like rocking this dad sneaker trend, but you aren't confident that you can't pull it off, you can always opt for a more basic outfit. For example, I paired them with jeans and a black top. Something basic like that is always a good idea if you want a more toned down approach to some trend. You can dress down anything with denim. This pair of jeans is vintage, but I customized them by painting them with textile paints. I didn't made them distressed, that was just a natural process as they are quite old. I do love vintage clothes. Vintage fabrics are so u...

Let's Talk Hair! I'm Sharing My Hair Routine With You. How Do You Take Care Of Your Hair?

Image
My last visit to a hair saloon was bittersweet. Sweet because I'm happy that I have finally found a  new hair stylist and bitter because my new hair stylist informed me that my hair is so damaged that it looks like it was bleached. I was a bit shocked because I thought my hair looked rather nice and anyway it's a feature I've always been complemented on. When I told her that I have never ever bleached my hair (I only dye it occasionally, maybe once or twice a year) she said my hair condition must be a result of certain health problems. I didn't really feel into going into detail right then and there, talking about my operations and all that, so instead of giving her my recent medical history, I just admitted to being severely anaemic. You know, she was quite accurate in her assumptions.  That made me realize not only how important hair care is, but how much hair can be a reflection of our health. I've never though as hair as something affected by our health probl...

Floral Dress For Summer: Keeping It Simple (Outfit proposal) + Revisiting Buna

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you're enjoying your weekend. The outfit I'm sharing with you today is all about this floral dress. I have had this dress for a while, and it has proven to be very versatile. I wear it pretty often because I simply love its vibrant  floral print. One of my favourite ways of styling it is wearing it with a skirt, but I'm always finding new ways to wear it and sometimes I just like to keep it simple. Speaking of which, you can see alternative ways to wear such a bold floral dress here , here and here . I already wrote about my love for florals a number of time. Sometimes when I wear a bold floral print, I like to keep the rest of the outfit more simple. That was the case today. I paired this floral dress with sandals. Floral print has been trending this spring, but I think we'll be seeing it this summer as well. Summer is approaching and it is perhaps the most relaxed of a seasons. I don't know why, but I feel like summer is a time when  you ca...
