It was over 40 degrees Celsius (that's over 100 Fahrenheit) when these photographs were taken. Seriously! I'm obviously a desert type when I'm able to enjoy being out at midday in a city that is practically an oven. If you did not know Mostar city is surrounded by mountains and hills which pretty much turns it into an urban oven. Yes, this city is a champion of unbelievably high temperatures during the Summer. So, this hat was as much a necessity as a fashion statement. Wearing a hat when temperature is over 100 Fahrenheit is a sound idea, believe me. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO 2024 MOVIE REVIEW

In this post, I'll share with you a review of  The Count of Monte Cristo.  I don't go to theatre/movies often. In fact, years have been known to pass without me seeing a film on the big screen. However, when I saw the poster for the new 2024  The Count of Monte Cristo movie, I knew I simply had to go.  I really wanted to see this film, and I didn't even read the reviews or watch the trailer for it. I wasn't even intimidated by the fact it is a three hours long. Afterall, it's based on a rather long novel, so I didn't expect it to be short.  Now, I usually review books on my blog, not movies. However, perhaps this film review won't come as a surprise to you. What to wear in Summer? Sometimes simplicity is the beast answer. / Što nositi ljeti? Ponekad je jednostavnost najbolje rješenje.

Maxi skirt in the Summer? How predictable! Well, sometimes basic items can feel pretty darn good. Printed tshirt and a maxi suknja paired with sandals, it doesn't get more basic than that. Simple outfit that almost feels like a casual uniform. I wore this outfit when I went to hear a Cambridge choir perform in our local church in Mostar. They sang beautifully. Now, I'm in Split, suffering from insomnia and feling mighty tired. I'm trying to tell myself that the Summer has only started (afterall I only spent 3 hours on the beach in total ) but I know it is not so. It is not you Summer, it's me.  Duga suknja ljeti?
