Today I'm taking you to Green Cathedral, near Imotski, Croatia. Built in 1995 in vicinity of Imotski town, this Catholic church without walls is quite a sight to behold. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful as well. We made a stop there while driving through Dalmatia and it was definitely worth it. While we were there, we only saw one family of tourists and they were local. So, I guess that the Green Cathedral is still under the radar.  If you're visiting Croatia and you're looking for some peace and quiet, this is an ideal location to visit. The only time this place is busy is during the feast of Assumption. That's actually the reason why this lovely church was built. The feast of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the most important feasts for the locals. Not that you have to be in any way religious to visit this sight. It's just a serene and glorious place.  As much as I love the seaside, it's important to remember that there is more to Dalmatia...

Today I shall review another autobiographical novel....and what a wonderful novel it is! Written by Stephanie Zweig, it tells a tale of a German Jewish family surviving in Kenya during the Second World War. It is a family saga of sorts, a touching and profound tale of growing up in Africa during World War Two. I would especially recommend it to German readers, as they can read it in the language it was written it. There is also an awarded movie version for those of you who aren't exactly bookworms. I haven't seen the movie myself, but the reviews are promising.   With the expectation of Slaughterhouse 5 that I read and reviewed fairly recently (also set in WW2), it's really been a while since I read an autobiographical novel. So, I was really up for it when I picked up Nowhere in Africa. Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! Today I'm taking you to a historical fortress overlooking Ljubuški city in Herzegovina. Located on a strategic position, at a high of almost 400 m (396 to be precise), this magnificent fortress offers truly breath-taking views.  The fortress is assumed to have belonged to Herzeg/ Grand Duke Stjepan Kosaca (alternative spelling Styepan Kosacha /Stjepan Kosača) and was built in 15th century. From what I have managed to find online, it is believed that  built this fortress after solving a dispute with his sons. Although it is possible that the Grand Duke built it on remains of another older fortress or just adapted a much older fortress, its construction is commonly attributed  to him and dated to 15th century.
