READING UPDATE: TWO BOOK REVIEWS (HUMAN ACTS BY HAN KANG AND HOGFATHER BY TERRY PRATCHETT)

Image
I'm back with another reading update . Today I'll be reviewing two very different novels: Human Acts  by Han Kang and Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. I've heard good things about both of these authors, but I only got to reading one of their works last month. These two books were my introduction to Pratchett and Kang, you might say. I'm happy to report I quite liked both of them and plan to read more of them. Isn't it great when you discover authors that are perfect for you? Han Kang is a South Korean writer. A daughter of a novelist herself, Han Kang writes with ease. Her writing style is beautiful, touching and almost hypnotic. Kan really has a way of bringing you inside the story. I first heard about Han Kang when her controversial novel The Vegetarian started to trend and I've been meaning to read it ever since. When I saw this beautiful cover of Human Acts in Jelsa library, I knew it is time for me to pick it up. Similarly, I've been meaning to read T...

DISCOVER SKOZANJE BAY (GDINJ, ISLAND HVAR) WITH ME!

Image
I have promised to show you the most beautiful beaches island Hvar has to offer, haven't it? I intent to keep my promise. Today I'm taking you to bay Skozanje . Located on the southern side of island Hvar, this beautiful bay can boost with a stunning pebble beach. It offers amazing views as well. The area itself is very green, the bay is surrounded by a thick pine forest. Olive trees are another common sight. Bay Skozanje is one of the bays that belong to village Gdinj. As some of you know, both of my maternal grandparents originate from this charming little village, so I know my way around it. Yesterday I intended to show all the southern bays belonging to Gdinj to my significant other. This involved lots of driving but we managed to see them all. Today I'm sharing one of them with you.   I love Gdinj bays. This village was once quite big, but Gdinj's population got smaller with time as most people moved to cities. However, during the summer months this chan...

FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: LADY IN A LILAC DRESS (WATERCOLOUR PENCILS)

Image
It's time for another Fashion Illustration Friday ! I've arrived home late this evening but somehow I've still managed to create a new fashion illustration. I didn't wanted to miss another Fashion Illustration Friday, so I've sat down and illustrated a brunette wearing a lilac dress topped with red accessories. I've browsed runaway shots but haven't managed to find a runaway look I really wanted to illustrate in detail so I improvised and came up with my own design. I've felt drawn to different shades of purple recently and I always like to see red paired with purple. The medium for this fashion illustration is coloured pencils on paper. I'm quite happy with the result. It's been a while since I created a new fashion painting. I created quite a lot of collage art in the last two months, but I found it challenging to set aside for regular art since I moved. Scroll down to see more. THE FIRST STEP: SKETCHING WITH WATERCOLOUR PENCILS  I h...

TWO WAYS TO STYLE A BLACK RUFFLED MIDI DRESS FOR EVERYDAY WINTER WEAR

Image
Sometimes you want to get all dolled up, but baby it is cold outside. Fortunately, what I learned is that feeling the cold is optional. That is how I learned to love winter (and I wrote about it in more detail here ). Basically, I learned to dress better for winter. I figured out that you can still wear all the cute dresses you want and not freeze to death. The trick is in layering. You can do the whole layering over your feminine dress in two ways: you can go for multiple layers or you can pick one really warm outwear item. That is what I did with both outfit proposals I have for you today. You know, if you find good quality outwear, you should be warm no matter what you wear. Another important aspect of winter wardrobe is comfy and cozy shoes. My solution for winter is: heeled boots. What I like about a good pair of heeled boots is that it keeps our feet warm while at the same time keeping our outfits more feminine (check out this post for more tips on how to dress femininely in w...
