All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
Science proved that life on Earth originated in the sea but in our hearts we must have always felt it. Why otherwise would we feel so inspired by the sea? Who of us has not felt his or her heart opening up while mesmerized by the deep blueness of sea? Is it an echo of an oceanic birth of life? Is it our soul that wanders enchanted towards that greatest mystery? We feel the song of the sea, even when we don't understand it. A SELECTION OF CROATIAN POETRY RIKARD KATALINIĆ JERETOV 1869-1954 Born in Volosko (Istria, Croatia), died in Split. Hello there! Today I'll share with you a repainted oil painting inspired by a souvenir I picked up in Assisi , Italy (also here ). I visited Assisi, a hometown of Saint Francis back in 2013. It took me only a day to paint the original painting in 2014 (see the post here) but it took me four days to repaint it this August- including one afternoon spent crying because I was exhausted by the effort. I'm still not sure I'm 100 % finished. Sometimes I miss the days before I started taking art classes because I was much less critical of my work back then and seemed to enjoy the process more. Not that I'm complaining. I'm very grateful that I have the means to pursue art more seriously and learn more about different mediums. That certainly wasn't always the case. While it is true that it feels like more work nowadays, I can also see the progress and that's obviously rewarding. I'm happy that it is possible for me to create paintings, especially these kind
Yesterday I tore myself away from the laptop to make a new fashion illustration. It's been a while since I made my last fashion illustration. I've been spending an insane amount of time behind the screen lately (who ever said blogging is easy, right?) working on new blog posts. At some point yesterday, I decided to get up, grab some watercolour pencils and paint a new fashion illustration. Friday Fashion Illustration is not the most regular feature on my blog, but this summer at least I can try to change that. While I was working on my new fashion illustration, I test drove watercolour pencils from Steadler brand (not sponsored). It's been ages since I last used watercolour pencils. I'll wait for a bit before I give this brand a detailed review, but for now I can say that I quite liked these pencil watercolours. So far so good, you might say. Steadler brand claims to be sustainable and sustainability is important to me. It is something that applies to every aspect
Hello dear ideas! Today I'm back with some circus themed art & crafts ideas that are suitable for both children and adults. They are fairly simple to do and not time consuming at all. You can do these crafts with the young ones or by yourself. If you're looking for some easy circus themed DIY ideas, you've come to the right place. I have been testing all of these circus themed art & crafts ideas while working in the tourist animation sector this summer, so I figured why not share some of those ideas with you. During the course of this summer, I've held a number of creative mini club Circus themed workshops and they were a lot of fun to do. These circus themed crafts are great if you're looking for something creative to do. Moreover, these DIY projects can also make for wonderful handmade gift ideas. Why not make a circus themed notebook or a birthday card for someone? CIRCUS THEMED NOTEBOOKS AND SKETCHBOOKS This is a great activity that is suitable for bo
Time for another fashion illustration post. This time I'm sharing a mixed print illustration based on one of my recently worn outfits. I finally bought some art supplies: two sketching blocks. As you may remember, I relied mostly on digital art in the past few months. I hardly ever left the island and there aren't that many art supply shops here. However, recently I had to go to Split for medical check ups and picked up the above mentioned blocks. If art is you hobby, it is a good idea to have a sketching block at hand because we're all pressed for time and you have to catch sketching opportunities when you can. Anyhow, I sketched this look with a ballpoint pen during my catamaran ride and I coloured it with watercolour pencils later on. I used Staedtler Noris aquarell 144 10 watercolour pencils (not sponsored). I've had these watercolour pencils for about a year now and I'm quite happy with them. You can see the first fashion illustration I made with them here .
Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern novel follows two story lines and uses framed narration. The Island of Missing Trees tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter. This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story. The Island of Missing Trees is set in London and Cyprus. The narration isn't chronological . The story jumps back and forth, following two main timelines, one set in moder
Hello dear visitors and readers. Today I'm really excited to join in the Bloggers Art Gallery link up. Kezzie is the organizer and you can find her blog here . As some of you already know, I'm blessed to own a lot of beautifully framed oil, watercolour and acrylic paintings. As a hobby artist myself, it gives me great pleasure to have so many paintings on my walls. I don't have a single poster in my home, it's all real art, my walls are all just: canvas after canvas! My husband is very emotionally attached to my paintings (particularly to ones of boats) so he rarely allows me to sell them. Today I'll show you a couple of ways to start a brown faux leather/ faux fur coat. We'll start with a more dressed up version. Now, this brown coat comes with a faux fur hoodie and that gives it more of a casual vibe, similar to that of a parka jacket. So, I decided to dressed it up with accessories (always the best way to dress up an item). I paired this coat with predominately black accessories: a pair of stilettos, a bag, a pair of earrings and a headband. I also wore a statement necklace. The dress I was wearing under the coat was a simple grey dress (bought at Terranova some time ago), so I wasn't afraid to pile on the accessories. Scroll down to see and read more. DIY HEADBAND PROJECT: HOW I HAND SEWED THE FLORAL APPLICATIONS You already had the chance of seeing this DIY headband many times, but it's been a whole since I showed you how I actually made it. I found some floral applications and just sewed them onto the headband. I often avoid gluing in m
Today I'm back with a book review: Murder in Three Acts (or Three Act Tragedy) , a novel by Agatha Christie. This novel was originally published under the title Three Act Tragedy in 1935 but since it was adapted for television (in 1986) as Murder in Three Acts ., it has also been printed under that alternative title. If murder mystery is your genre, you simply cannot go wrong with Agatha Christie. When I was in middle school, Agatha Christie was a popular choice among us kids. However, I realized that I enjoy her writing just as much as an adult. Among Agatha Christie's works, my favourite books are those with the legendary Belgian detective Poirot. Earlier this year I reviewed Hercule Poiroit's Christmas . Today I will review this 1935 novel. Funny to think it's almost 100 years since it has been published! I will also share two summer outfits with you, both featuring skirts from designer Stanka Zovko paired with ruffled floral blouses and heeled sandals. I quit
