FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: GUCCI SPRING 2022

Image
Happy Friday! Today I'm back with another FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY post.  This pretty regular feature on my blog is all about visual art and fashion. I don't typically post every Friday, though. In fact, it's been a while since I've shared one of my fashion illustrations .  The reason why I haven't been posting my fashion illustration is because I've been more focused on painting landscapes (mostly seascapes).  Throughout this year I have been investing a lot of energy and time into painting the seaside (and sea in particular). I don't think that will change any time soon. Nevertheless, yesterday I managed to steal some time to make some fast fashion illustrations.   While I was shopping for art supplies the other day, I remembered to pick up some Steadler (not sponsored) watercolour pencils I used in the past. If I hadn't, I probably would have thought of making these fashion sketches. As you might remember, I often use watercolour pencils when I wa...

Françoise Sagan: Réponses 1954- 1974 (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Hello! Today I will review  Réponses,  a book of interviews by  Françoise   Sagan, another author I hold in high esteem. Perhaps best known for her first novel  Bonjour Tristesse , Sagan was actually an amazingly prolific author. Sagan published 21 novels, 3 short stories collections, 2 biographical books, 7 autobiographical works and 9 plays during  her life.  Sagan even wrote a ballet! After Sagan's death, 8 more books of hers were published posthumously .  You could say Sagan  proved many times that she is more than a one hit wonder. Still, most people know Sagan solely by her youthful hit. Maybe it is because Bonjour Tristesse  has caused such a sensation upon its publication?   I liked her youthful hit Bonjour Tristesse (Hello Sadness) a lot, but her other works even more. It was once I have read Sagan's more mature works ( Scars on Soul and Lost Profile ) that I have really fallen in love with her writing. Obvious...

FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE, A NOVEL BY ISAAC ASIMOV (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Image
Hello! In this post I'll review  Foundation and Empire , a novel by Isaac Asimov. Regular readers of my blog will know that I'm quite fond of this author.  The Foundation by Isaac Asimov is possibly one of the best known book series in science fiction and was awarded multiple awards (including a special Hugo Award for Best All time Series in 1966). It has recently been adapted as a TV series. So far this 2021 adaptation has met with positive reviews. However, I won't talk about the adaptation (because I haven't seen it yet) but about one of the original books. Besides, books are more my area of expertise.  Not that I would mind posting a movie or a series review now and then. If you're interested in that kind of stuff, let me know.  Anyhow, I read this novel (the second book in the Foundation series) about a month ago. It was back in October, while I was still in Split (Croatia). I borrowed a copy from Split's city library. I actually read most of thi...
