Watercolour of the day + Outfit of the day / Akvarel dana + Odjevna kombinacija dana

Image
First of all, congrats to Brooklyn Grace, the winner of my last giveaway. I mailed the illustration the morning following the giveaway, so it should arrive soon enough. I think this was the first time I made this sort of a giveaway on my blog, i.e. a giveaway that featured one of my works. I was thinking about doing it for a while, but I figured it is better to work on improving my technique so I waited until I made something I could be really happy with.  There will probably be more giveaways of the same sort, so stay posted. Now, about the painting of the day. This watercolour took a bit more time to make, because I changed my mind about the colour length and some other details. I like the final look of it, though. In this post, you can see my painting process because I included some 'before and after' photographs.  I'm still figuring out watercolours, but at least I can say that I don't lack any inspiration. I'm always feeling inspired.  Prvo čestitke Broo...

Inspired by...Dolce &Gabbana runaway look from Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 collection

Today I'm sharing another fashion illustration with you. The medium is acrylic on cardboard. I illustrated a dress from Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/ Winter 2017/ 2018 collection. Have you seen this collection yet? I always end up liking DG collections. I suppose it is their Mediterranean aesthetics that appeals to me. I have a feeling that really know how to integrate Mediterranean cultural references in their designs. I always like to see a bit of folklore influences when it comes to fashion. Keeping a connection with tradition can be such a wonderful thing.  Anyway, if you're interested in checking up some of my other works related to DG, I previously illustrated two runaway looks from this brand ( here  and here ). One more thing.... the first person who leaves me a comment saying they want this illustration, will get this illustration as a gift. I'm not sure about exact dimensions, because I used cardboard from the cover of one of sketching blocks for it. I think it i...

Green dress (painting of the day) / Zelena haljina (slika dana)

Image
You would have already seen this painting, if you follow me on Instagram. Greenery vibes and that sort of thing. I'm quite happy about this whole 'green' for Spring trend, in case you can't tell. The lady illustrated is wearing a green dress with flare sleeves, but you can really see the entire dress because I didn't painted all of it. Anyway,  'nevermore' inscription is, as you probably can guess, a reference to  a famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Speaking of American writers I've just finished World's End by T.C. Boyle. This novel won the PEN/Faulkner award in 1988. It is certainly a well written work of fiction, but very demanding on the reader. You have to concentrate hard while reading  if you want to be able to follow the story. If your mind wanders a bit so that you miss a sentence or God forbid a passage, you will have to go back to reread it. If you don't feel like you can commit to the reading process fully at the moment, forget about t...

Asking the right kind of questions (it is time for a body perception talk) / Pitanje pravih pitanja (vrijeme je za priču o percepciji tijela)

Image
Recently I wrote a post ( here ) where I explained why I initially hesitated to write about body perception but decided that I need to do it anyway. Yes, I was getting pretty tired of all that 'body' talk. I was getting tired of hearing how everyone finally managed to embrace their body. I was thinking, yes, that's great, but why I have to be hearing about it all the time? Why don't I ever hear stories about people who managed to increase their IQ? Why I don't hear stories about people who learned how to accept some personality traits of theirs? How they learned to embrace and understand people whose personality is different that theirs? Then I realized that I was wrong. I was wrong to ignore this subject. Because there is this burning issue with body perception and we can't just ignore it. It is something that is having a huge impact on everyone. That got me thinking. All those movements for body positive perception may actually be needed. On the other hand...
