Inspired by....blogs Fashionably Idu & My Glamour Zone ( My Fashion Illustrations of Bloggers)

Time for another Inspired by feature, a regular feature on my blog that is all about my illustrations of fashion bloggers, i.e., fabulous outfits seen through my eyes and captured by my hand! Today I'm sharing with you two new fashion illustrations. One of them was inspired by a neon green outfit recently featured on Fashionably Idu site (do check it out here) and the second illustration was inspired by an  elegant outfit posted on Glamour zone site (do have a closer look here). I have already illustrated Idu in the past (here and here), but this is the first time I illustrated an outfit featured on Glamour zone blog. As I always say,  one of the best part about blogging is finding so many inspiring ladies.

I was actually quite nervous about making art again. It's been almost a month since my last drawing and I was worried I had lost my touch. Contrary to popular belief, art skills are not something you're born with, they are something you need to develop. In addition, art skills are something you need to  constantly work on so you can maintain them. Starting again is never easy, but there is always that -'if not now then when?' question. So, just like with working out, I decided to jump right back on track. Art was never meant for lazy people. Anyhow, I had warmed myself up with a few random sketches, and then I made these two illustrations. They are both mixed media, coloured pencils and make up. I wrote about painting with make up before, but if you're missed my old posts you can have a look herehere and here

#fashionillustrations

Let's start with this illustration of a wide skirt look. As I mentioned this was my first time illustrating this blogger. Glamour Zone is a blog run by two twin sisters, I've been following it for a while but  only recently I've decided on an outfit to illustrate. When I sketched this outfit, I had an interesting idea about turning it into a mix media illustration. I realized that I'm short on my coloured pencils supply anyhow, so I decided to fill in this drawing with some make up.  I thought it might give it an interesting texture and it did. It created a crayon effect that I was hoping for. I've used a number of things to fill this fashion drawing up, as you will be able to see on the photographs bellow. Besides using make up (brow shadow kit from Essence, mascara from Maybelline) I also used a nail-polish! It's all about being creative.

Another outfit I simply had to illustrate is this gorgeous neon set that Idu from Fashionably Idu wore. Isn't this outfit spectacular? I'm a big fan of wearing green in summer. Are you? Anyway, I sketched this illustration quite quickly. I mostly filled it in with colour pencils but I also used a bit of make up (brow shadow) to make it more shiny. How do you like it? I did rush a bit with this one, I made it this morning. It was a busy morning, but I still think this drawing turned out alright. I might make another one in the future. Drawing skills are something you always have to work on, that's what I realized.

I'm happy I managed to find time to make these fashion drawings (and to take photographs of them....and to post them).  It really is as they say. You have to make time for the things you like, you have to put in the effort to make something you will like. No object will fall down from heaven. Nobody will serve you what you want on a silver plate. Be it art, or some other hobby, you just have to work on it and try to get better. There is no secret. There are only two things needed: time and effort. Do you agree? What are you working on? Are there any skills you're trying to develop? Do you have any hobbies or projects you're working on? As always, thank you for reading and visiting. We'll wrap this post up with another photograph, and that would be all for today. Have a fantastic weekend!

  29. I love that you used makeup for the textured effect on Glamour Zone illustration. It's my favorite one from you. The gorgeous outfit just comes alive and I hope you will do more of these mix media art illustration because it is so stunning. I especially love the way the mascara created a kind of fuzziness in your drawing. You are right about putting in effort and giving time to a craft. Again, you have me inspired me! I look forward to using an expired mascara for my next piece, hahah. Thank you for always getting me excited about art. It is very therapeutic :) xoxo
