Dostoevsky believed that beauty can save the world. I believe it too. Because we can find beauty within ourselves. It is a part of us, but only if we choose it to be. We are given the gift of choice. That in itself  is beautiful. We can search for beauty, treasure it and remember it. It can become a part of us. Looking at these photographs, I'm reminded how comforting beauty can be, but this is only so if we meet it if an open heart, if we don't try to own it. Today I'm sharing two things with you: a book review of Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan and an illustration of mine. I mentioned Bonjour Triestesse on my blog on at least one occasion (read  about it  here  ) , but I didn’t do a proper review yet. This was my first novel by Sagan and it also happens to be the first novel she wrote. I would say that it was a lovely introduction to this author. The second novel of hers I read was Scars On the Sou l and I simply fell in love with that one. Scars On the Soul is still my favourite novel of hers, but I shall talk about that one some other time, alright? Today we’re talking about Bonjour Tristesse (sometimes translated as Hello Sadness which is close enough, but well you all know what bonjour means in French). If you watched the news, you have probably heard about the fire situation in Israel. So, let's take a moment to pray for Israel. The situation is quite serious. Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Russia have sent their firefighter airplanes to help fight the fires. Let's hope it will be enough and that the situation will be resolved soon. Today I'm sharing another illustration with you. Once again, the medium is markers (plus water) on paper. Hi! Do you like colours? I sure do, but I think you already know that. So, this outfit I illustrated today shouldn't come of as a surprise to you. Yes,  it is time for another fashion illustration. It's been an entire 24 hours since the last one. Well, I did warn you that this week will be all about fashion illustrations. Today I'm positing something a bit different. This illustration was made with ordinary cheap  markers and water. As you can see it turned out a bit messy, but hey it was my first attempt at something like this.  I did use markers before and mixing them with water isn't new to me either, but this was my first attempt of trying to use only markers to achieve a watercolour effect in a fashion illustration. To be honest, it wasn't a complete success, but I'm happy with it anyway. Markers can be a bit unpredictable when they come in contact with water but I kind of like that element of surprise.
