READING UPDATE: LONDON, CERVANTES, LE CARRE AND ESQUIEVL

Image
Today I'll share with you a reading update. If you know me, you know that I adore reading. So, here are some of the books that I read in April. Some of these authors were new to me, some I have read before. I was planning to do an April reading recap, but I read so many books it is probably better to break these reviews in a couple of post. My reading goal for this year is 100 books. If you want to know how to read more, check out my 7 reading strategies that will transform you into a reader. LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE, A NOVEL BY LAURA ESQUIVEL 4/5 This was my first novel by Laura Esquivel. I've been eyeing this book for a while. When I read a recommendation for Like Water for Chocolate written by a fellow blogger, I decided that I better buy it while I can.  “Each of us is born with a box of matches inside us but we can't strike them all by ourselves; we need oxygen and a candle to help. In this case, the oxygen for example, would come from the breath ...

A FEMININE SPRING OUTFIT PROPOSAL: BELLE POQUE DRESS REVIEW

Image
How to dress feminine for spring? An easy way to do it is to turn to vintage inspired clothing. A nice blazer and a dress will always take you far, but can you turn to this outfit formula even when it comes to spring showers? I think you can, but it will also depend on how much rain we're talking about. Layering is always a good idea (hence the blazer), especially if the rainy days happen to be a bit fresh as well. Not all spring days are sunny and warm, some of them are cloudy, rainy and not that warm. Not that I really mind, because you know what they say- April showers bring May flowers. We had some rainy days both in April and May, so today we're going to talk about rainy day outfits. My  of the day outfit was not intended as a rainy day look, I got dressed while it was cloudy, but I didn't actually expect rain (or I wouldn't have worn these leopard heels). Fortunately I had my umbrella with me so I didn't get wet. Apart from my heels, the rest of the outfit ...

HOW TO STYLE WHITE JEANS IN AN ELEGANT WAY? SPRING OUTFIT PROPOSAL

Image
One of the trends I've been loving lately is the revival of white jeans. I even managed to find a few vintage jeans in my closet (and when I say my closet I mean our closet, my significant other probably has more clothes that I do). Today's outfit proposal is all about keeping it elegant. When we want to make a styling elegant, it's always good to go monochrome. I really like the combo of white and navy blue. It seems perfect for spring. How to style white jeans in an elegant way? My answer is to wear them with a well fitted blazer and heels. Straw accessories are a good way to keep it more spring appropriate. A fedora straw hat can make your outfit look even more elegant and put together. Lately I've been obsessed with this navy blazer. I've had it for years, but I kind of forgot about it so now I'm rediscovering it. As I always say, shopping one's closet is the best thing to do . In fact, these pink  socks with pearls are the only new item in this outfit....

HOW TO STYLE A PUFFED SLEEVE DRESS? SPRING OUTFIT PROPOSAL

Image
It seems that the puffy sleeves trend isn't going anywhere. Puffed sleeves have established themselves as one of 2019 fashion trends and I'm certainly happy about it. Being the kind that loves statement sleeves, I'd be the first to say that puffed sleeves are definitely a fun variation on the theme. As far as I'm concerned, sign me up for any sleeve fashion drama: voluminous and flare sleeves are definitely my thing.  Speaking of puffed sleeves, this season we can see anything from subtle puffed sleeves to Disney princess sleeves/balloon sleeves.  I already showed you three ways to style this pink puffed sleeves dress ( 1 / 2 / 3 ) in the past and today I'll show you yet another outfit proposal. As you know, I'm all about shopping one's closet and getting the most wear out of our fashion outfits. This particular look is perfect for every day wear, but at the same time it isn't entirely casual, it's a more dressed up version of an everyday look. If y...

A RED BLAZER (OUTFIT PROPOSAL) + THE GIVEAWAY WINNER

Image
How to style a coloured blazer for spring? Today I'm sharing with yet another spring outfit proposal.  With April coming to its end, we can say the spring is in full swing. If you ask me, a coloured blazer is a great choice for spring.  This time I styled my red blazer with a blue turtleneck, navy flare pants and statement accessories. I wore an oversize hat completed with statement earrings and a necklace. Sometimes accessories make all the difference. These photographs were taken on planinica hill where the cherry trees still blossom. The cherry trees in our city are already filled with cherries, but since it's colder on the hill, the flowers are still there. Lovely, isn't it? Thank you all for lovely wishes for my birthday. I spend my birthday cleaning the house, preparing the cakes and so on, and somehow I hurt my back in the process. I suffer from scoliosis (another chronic illness I'm blessed with) so I'm not supposed to carry anything heavy, but...
