  One thing I love about drawing (or painting) is that it makes me look at things like it is the absolutely first time I've seen them. Sometimes it feels like being reborn, this immersing myself into an image, trying to look at it from different perspectives. Often it's not about the things I'm seeing, it's about what the image of them resonates with inside of me. In some ways, art can be quite selfish. It is a feeling, or an experience if you will that I'm searching for...a way for me to explain something to myself, perhaps even a way of making myself play this difficult game of life. What I feel when I look at it, but even more what I felt while making it....that is the only thing that matters to me. This is a new feature on my blog. In these 'postcards' posts, I will share with you my photographs of Dalmatian cities and villages and write a little bit about the place I'm representing in that post. Podstrana is a small settlement near Split (8 km from Split). According to historical finds, it was originally a Greek settlement but it also has Roman archaeological sights. Due to various archaeological finds, some have connected it to king Arthur (in accordance with recent historical theories that offer the possibility that he was Roman) but naturally such myth figures as Arthur do not really have historical status and hence anything about them is hard to prove. To me the history of this place is interesting enough in itself so I do not feel the need to question or think too much about such new theories, interesting as they may be.  Nešto novo na blogu, naime u ovakvom tipu 'razglednica' postova, dijeliti ću sa vama fotografije Dalmatin...

I'm always experimenting when it comes to drawing or painting.  As you can see on the photographs,  for these drawings (besides the obvious-the pen), I've used various make up products that I don't use. There is a way to recycle everything if you think about it hard enough. Uvijek eksperimentiram kada je u pitanju crtanje ili slikanje. Za ove crteže kao što vidite na fotografijama (osim očitog- kemijske olovke), koristila sam se raznom šminkom koju ne koristim. Postoji način da se sve reciklira ako o tome dovoljno dugo razmišljate.

oil paints/ uljane boje Because you left such kind comments about my last canvas, I'm sharing another one with you. I certainly haven't been idle this summer, I've been painting and drawing so much that my fingers and hands are literally sore. Well, some things are worth the pain...and as they say no pain, no gain. Zbog svih lijepih komentara o mom zadnjem platnu, podijeliti  još  ću jedno ulje na platnu sa vama. Ovoga ljeta sam si dala truda, crtala sam i slikala toliko da su me doslovno bole prsti i ruke. No za neke se stvari isplati svašta pretrpjeti.
