DIY project of the day (bird print decoupage box)/ kreativni projekt dana (dekupaž kutija s uzorkom ptica)

Speaking of birds......Besides being a bird lover, I'm also a bird print/pattern lover. Today I'm posting a simple DIY project. I bought this wooden box a while back. To customize it, I decided to paint it with acrylics. Apparently that wasn't enough for me, so after I while I tried the decoupage technique on this little box. I selected bird print. I must say that I'm really happy with the result. I love this little yellow box. It is like a rain of sunshine. Do you like it? Do you enjoy taking part in DIY projects? Do you like bird print and patterns?

Volite li ptičje printove i uzorke?

  6. Dear Ivana, I like the wooden box both with your illustration but also with the birds on it! I have to admit that I assuem I have too less patience for a DIY project like this - although I like the result so much! Birds are wonderful.

  14. Dearest Ivana,
your decoupage-bird-box looks lovely - I'm also a "birds-friens", so I like the bird motif VERY much, too. You've made "something new out of something old" and it's a nice DIY - so it would also perfectly fit my ANL linkup. Do you want? I would be very happy!

  19. I don't just like this, I love it! Turned out so beautiful. Almost looks like a different box than the original. I'm not a huge bird lover but your choice of paper is perfect. I also don't do a ton of diys but I find the few I do very fun even though they never turn out great cos I lack the patience to do it right. I collect wooden boxes like yours and use them for decoration in and around my house. Home Goods has a ton of very pretty ones. Yours reminds me of of one I own. It's not a bird print but has a vintage vibe to it that I also see in yours. By the way what do you use yours for. It's very beautiful!

  35. Bravo, predivna kutijica! I ja sam se bavila dekupažom i uvek mi je milo kada sama nešto napravim, ukrasim ili osmislim. A, motiv ptica koji si koristila je jako lep i originalno izgleda.

WHAT DRESS TO CHOOSE THIS AUTUMN? SPECIAL OCCASION OUTFIT IDEAS

As I mentioned in one of my last post, I'm already thinking about what I might wear for all those festive occasions that are coming up. Autumn and Winter both have its fair share of festivities. Our social calendar can be quite busy this time of year with all the meetings, events, festivities, celebrations, family and work parties. Some of these social occasions come with a black tie dress code, so I decided to prepare some outfit ideas.  A bit of formal wear inspiration for  my readers. All of these photographs were taken the day before yesterday. We're enjoying a rather warm Autumn in Herzegovina but these outfits I'm sharing can be easily be adapted for colder weather. Just throw a warm coat or a blazer over them, and that would be that.  That's what I plan to do once it gets colder. Anyhow, all four dresses I'll be sharing with you today are from Rosegal. This is my second collaboration with this site, if you want you can have a look at my first one here. With…

Fashion Illustration Friday: Inspired by Colours of Autum

Time for another Fashion Illustration Friday talk. We'll talk autumn and share some new autumn inspired fashion illustrations & outfits. Autumn is a season with one of the most beautiful colour palettes. Just think about all those gorgeous gold and red leaves! Even the fruits of Autumn are visually stunning, for example the delicious and juicy fruits such as pomegranates and grapes. With so much to appeal to our senses, it's hard not to be appreciative of autumn. It is a stunning season indeed, so small wonder I was inspired to create some fashion art. Scroll down to see and read more.

AUTUMN COLOUR COMBOS TO CONSIDER
Besides enjoying the colours of autumn, I sure love wearing colour in autumn, and that's what I'll write about today. Whether we're talking about accessories or clothes, a bit of colour can take us a long way. Here are some illustrated & photographed colour combos to consider.

HOW TO STYLE TARTAN IN A CASUAL WAY? OUTFIT PROPOSALS + FASHION ILLUSTRATION

I was thinking about why I like tartan pattern so much, when one reason crossed my mind. I figured that it probably has something to do with the history and the culture behind this particular pattern. After all, I always say that traditional and folklore clothing (be it original or reproduced) carries additional value. Traditional patterns can be such an wonderful source of inspiration. Traditional patters have soul to them, one might say. The history of tartan is particularly interesting. Today we mostly associate tartan with Scotland, but according to some historians, tartan like fabrics were used by ancient Celtic populations spreading across the British Isles as early as the sixth and the eight century BC. Well, that one old pattern for sure! However, even if tartan clothes are really as old as ancient Celts, it is the still Scotland that is responsible for tartan we know today. Did you know that different tartan patterns can represent different Scottish families? Something like …
