Green dress (painting of the day) / Zelena haljina (slika dana)

Image
You would have already seen this painting, if you follow me on Instagram. Greenery vibes and that sort of thing. I'm quite happy about this whole 'green' for Spring trend, in case you can't tell. The lady illustrated is wearing a green dress with flare sleeves, but you can really see the entire dress because I didn't painted all of it. Anyway,  'nevermore' inscription is, as you probably can guess, a reference to  a famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Speaking of American writers I've just finished World's End by T.C. Boyle. This novel won the PEN/Faulkner award in 1988. It is certainly a well written work of fiction, but very demanding on the reader. You have to concentrate hard while reading  if you want to be able to follow the story. If your mind wanders a bit so that you miss a sentence or God forbid a passage, you will have to go back to reread it. If you don't feel like you can commit to the reading process fully at the moment, forget about t...

Asking the right kind of questions (it is time for a body perception talk) / Pitanje pravih pitanja (vrijeme je za priču o percepciji tijela)

Image
Recently I wrote a post ( here ) where I explained why I initially hesitated to write about body perception but decided that I need to do it anyway. Yes, I was getting pretty tired of all that 'body' talk. I was getting tired of hearing how everyone finally managed to embrace their body. I was thinking, yes, that's great, but why I have to be hearing about it all the time? Why don't I ever hear stories about people who managed to increase their IQ? Why I don't hear stories about people who learned how to accept some personality traits of theirs? How they learned to embrace and understand people whose personality is different that theirs? Then I realized that I was wrong. I was wrong to ignore this subject. Because there is this burning issue with body perception and we can't just ignore it. It is something that is having a huge impact on everyone. That got me thinking. All those movements for body positive perception may actually be needed. On the other hand...

Watercolour painting of the day (soul communication) / Akvarel dana (komunikacija duša)

Image
Do you remember how only a few days ago ( here ) I said how I finally realized where I'm going with my paintings or rather what I'm trying to do? I realized that I'm attempting to make paintings that will look back at me. I'm not against selfies and modern photography trends as such, but I do miss the old kind of paintings and representations of women. When you had a feeling that an artist was trying to look into their souls. When there was more intimacy. When it was less about getting the perfect pose. When we looked each other in the eye. When we didn't turn ourselves and others into objects. Not that there aren't plenty of amazing photographers and artists nowadays. Don't get we wrong. I'm sure there are and I come across them often enough. What worries me are not the selfies or our desire to strike a pose. There is nothing wrong with that, with playing with the camera or figuring out our good angles. That is all fine unless it becomes an obsession...

Happy Women's Day! Sretan dan žena!

Image
To all you beautiful girls and women out there, I wish a happy Women's Day! I know I'm a bit late, it already being evening and all, but it is still not too late so I'm taking this opportunity to wish you all the best. I love being a woman. As Oriana Fallaci said, being a woman is so fascinating. Being a women often comes with its a set of challenges, but it also has its perks. Isn't it so? I sometimes feel like we have special powers. Maybe it is just me, but I do believe in certain female powers, for example feminine intuition.  Today I'm sharing a watercolour painting with you that I find quite inspiring (if you don't mind me describing my own painting in that way). It seems suitable to post it today.  Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and support. Maybe I don't say this often enough, but I really do really appreciate the time you take to stop by this little place of my own. Svim predivnim  djevojkama, djevojčicama i ženama, želim sr...

Shall we dance? Why should we dance? (fashion illustration of the day) / Hoćemo li zaplesati? Zašto bismo trebali plesati? (modna ilustracija dana)

Image
Shall we dance? Before you even answer that question, here is another one. Why should we dance? Actually, there are a number of reasons why we should dance. So, even if you're not a dance lover, you might want to consider at least dancing in the privacy of your own home or when nobody is watching (I'm always dancing when nobody is watching). Anyhow, here are five reasons why you should consider /reconsider being up for a dance or two:  Hoćemo li zaplesati? Dancing has been proven to reduce anxiety. I think it is because it functions both as physical release of ...
