Purple dreams / Ljubičasti snovi (Buna)

Image
If this outfit looks familiar, it is because I wore a similar one a while back (I wore it with a black blazer then). In fact, these photographs were taken last Spring, but I haven't shared them yet. Tonight seems as a good time as any, so here it is: one colourful outfit (gold, purple, caramel and blue). Lately, I haven't been wearing colour as much, so a nice little #throwback might help me get my groove back. I do love colour. If you have seen any of my fashion illustration, you know that I have this thing about colour purple. Doi...

A girl with an owl (pencil sketch) / Djevojka sa sovom (skica olovkom)

The story of sketch is (kind of) interesting. I'm saying kind of because it may not be of any interest to you, but I'm going to tell the story it anyway. Originally I just drew the owl (for practice and for fun because I love owls), but somehow the drawing looked empty. I fixed that by adding in a woman. I remember watching a documentary on Croatian TV that said that in middle ages, women were the best when it came to hunting with falcons. So, maybe they kept owls, too? It is just a quick drawing really, but I like it. I might make a painting out of it someday. Which makes me think of something....Margaret Atwood. I know I mentioned Margaret Atwood and her novel   Cat’s Eye   about hundred times on this blog, but I will do it again (and if you really know me it won’t surprise you). The protagonist of this novel is Elaine, a painter who paints women. When one young female journalist assumes (during an interview) that she paints women because she is feminist, Elai...

How to style a denim skirt in Winter? Kako zimi nositi suknju od trapera? ( BUNA, BIH)

Image
Last post ( here ) was ( at least partly) about how to dress for late Autumn/early Winter sunny days. So, it was basically about dressing up for those cold (but not too cold) and sunny days. Today I'm going to talk about dressing for late Autumn/ early Winter days that lack both sunshine and warmth. It is interesting how much colder we feel when we can't see the sun. I'm sure that it is partly psychological, because the absence of sun doesn't mean that the weather is freezing, but hey we need our comfort not just facts. I think that 'keeping warm' is relative, so we should dress according to how we feel, not only based on weather reports. Let's get back to the topic of styling our clothes for colder days. My solution is simple...Puffer jackets! The longer, the better because it will keep you warmer.  Under a warm and long puffer, you can wear whatever you like, even shorts and mini skirts. Well, in my case I wore a denim skirt that is just above the knee. S...

How I learned to love Winter? / Kako sam zavoljela zimu?

Image
Late Autumn. The days are getting colder. Finally, it feels like real Autumn, some might say (those that enjoy the colder weather). I would say that it is starting to feel more like Winter. The days are getting shorter albeit not for long. The weather is colder (generally speaking, I know there are parts of world where it isn't so but here it is). We still have a week or so before the official start of Winter ( 21 th of  December) but it seems to me that most of us already feel that the Winter has arrived. Even those who live in warm climates feel it. I think that Christmas and holiday season in general contribute to this. Personally, as soon as I start seeing holiday decorations, I'm starting to feel like Winter is here. Not that I’m complaining. I used to be that girl that doesn’t like Winter. Autumn was alright, but Winter was just something to get over with. I don’t feel that way anyway. I’m looking forward to Winter.  Especially to those sunny Winter days. I’m a big fa...
